We finally get a look at the latest upcoming entry in the Resident Evil franchise through a brand new trailer, and it looks pretty amazing. But is it what Resident Evil fans want?

The trailer shows Jade Wesker (played by Ella Balinska) and her father Albert Wesker (played by Lance Reddick) in the pre-apocalyptic New Raccoon City of 2022.

But soon enough, the timeline jumps to 2036 and the infected are every-freaking-where. It looks like the plot will follow Jade as she looks for her sister Billie while trying to survive swarms and swarms of zombies and the craziness that we’ve come to expect from the Umbrella Corp.

Fans don’t seem too impressed with the changes made to the lore in this one. “Came for Resident Evil, left because it is not Resident Evil,” one fan said on the Netflix trailer’s YouTube comments.

“Something I feel like alot of Resident Evil adaptions seem to not realize is that Resident Evil is NEVER a post apocalyptic situation,” another fan pointed out. “The zombies literally never take over. Like at MOST they infest a small town but then are quickly taken care of.”

The Resident Evil franchise has been going strong since the 1998 video game topped the charts, as well as subsequent films, including the original 2002 Resident Evil and its five sequels: Apocalypse (2004), Extinction (2007), Afterlife (2010), Retribution (2012), and The Final Chapter (2016).

The new 8-episode Resident Evil series will hit Netflix on July 14.
