Chainsaw Man first premiered on October 11, 2022, on Crunchyroll, and new episodes are dropping weekly. But during the first episode, there were a lot of issues. Some people couldn’t watch the episode when it was supposed to be available, and the servers crashed for others. Here’s what to do if you’re experiencing issues, and alternatives you can try.

Hulu Is an Alternative if Crunchyroll Crashes
With so many people wanting to watch the episode the moment it airs, Crunchyroll may sometimes crash. If you’re having trouble, you can try Hulu as an alternative.
To watch Chainsaw Man on Hulu: Click here to go to Hulu’s main page and then search for “Chainsaw Man.” Hulu also offers a free trial, which lasts for a month. So you can give it a try and cancel it before you have to pay, just long enough to watch when Crunchyroll isn’t working.
Unfortunately, Funimation is not an alternative for watching Chainsaw Man (unlike when Attack on Titan is airing.) The new episodes aren’t on that platform, so Hulu’s you’re only legal alternative in the U.S. if Crunchyroll is down.
You Can Also Just Wait a Few Minutes
Sometimes servers are only overloaded for 15 to 30 minutes. It may be down simply because everyone’s trying to watch at the same time. If you don’t mind waiting a bit, try returning in 30 minutes or so. There’s a good chance it’ll be working fine at that point.
It’s not a guarantee, however. Sometimes it does take hours for the servers to right themselves. But if you already have a Crunchyroll subscription and don’t want to sign up for anything else, the episode will eventually show up. You’ll just need to be a little patient. By the evening, it should definitely be there.
Another method that sometimes works is trying to watch on a different device. So if you’re watching on your browser on your computer, try using a Crunchyroll app instead on a mobile device. Or try a different browser. Sometimes this can make a difference.
We’re expecting 12 new episodes of Chainsaw Man this season. This was announced during MAPPA’s special September 19 event for the anime. Chainsaw Man fans had mixed reactions to the 12-episode announcement. Many anime seasons may consist of anywhere from 22 to 26 episodes. So just starting with 12 episodes is a lot less than many had anticipated. But some fans are hoping this means there will be two cours (or two parts) to the first season, which isn’t unusual for an anime either. We’ll have to wait and see if that happens.
Each episode will have the same opening theme, but there will be a unique ending theme for every new episode.
