Season 5 of The Handmaid’s Tale follows June as she grapples with the aftermath of killing Commander Fred Waterford. She struggles with PTSD and the moral implications of her actions, initially avoiding discussions about it with Luke and Moira. Meanwhile, Serena, now a widow, becomes a key figure in promoting Gilead’s image in Canada by setting up a Gilead Cultural Center in Toronto, further polarizing public opinion. As tensions escalate between Gilead and Canada, June and Luke embark on a perilous journey into No Man’s Land to gather information about Hannah’s situation in a “wives’ school.” They are captured, and June is forced to help Serena deliver her baby in an abandoned barn. In a surprising turn, June shows mercy by assisting Serena, reflecting her ongoing struggle between her desire for revenge and her humanity. This act concludes the season, highlighting June’s complex emotional journey amidst the escalating conflict.
