Despite recent news about a major number of subscribers lost and animation studios shutdowns, Netflix is releasing the latest post-apocalyptic anime movie Bubble, produced by Wit Studio, which has animated Attack on Titan. This begs the question: What time and date will Bubble air?

What time and date will Netflix’s Bubble air?

Bubble releases April 28th at 12 am pacific/3 am eastern. The movie will also premiere later in Japanese cinemas on May 13th. The movie will be in Japanese with English subtitles and judging from IMDB, the streaming platform shows no plans to have it dubbed in English. Bubble also had early screenings at the Berlin International Film Festival on February 10, 2022. Here is the synopsis of the movie:

“In an alternate world, bubbles raining down upon the world have broken the laws of gravity. For the Japanese, Tokyo has been completely cut off from the outside world, and all that remains are groups of young people competing in parker team battles across the skyline of Tokyo. Hibiki, a reckless but talented ace, accidentally slips from the rooftops, but before plummeting into the gravity-bending sea below he is saved by Uta, a girl with mysterious powers. What bonds the pair together is their ability to hear a sound only audible to them.”

The trailer displays beautiful animations, scenes and transitions. That is not surprising considering the director is Tetsurô Araki, famous for Attack on Titan, High school of the Dead, and Death Note, all three highly praised anime series. User comments on Youtube are praising just how beautiful this anime looks, and how the story seems interesting. Perhaps worth a mini-series in the future? One can wish! But even better, a manga adaptation of the film has been announced, and it looks just as beautiful as the movie itself.
