Wasteland 3 has enjoyed positive reviews since its launch late last year and the folks at inXile Entertainment has kept up a steady pace of updates, improvements, and new content ever since.
Now the team is happy to announce the release of its second and final expansion for the game, entitled Wasteland 3: Cult of the Holy Detonation.
“Deep within the Cheyenne Mountain military complex, mutant cults worship an ancient deity they call the Holy Detonation—a nuclear explosion held in stasis,” the official press release describes. “Whether god, science experiment, or accidental miracle, the Detonation’s energy could power Colorado Springs for hundreds of years, or level it in an instant. The warring cults have differing opinions on who should be allowed to honor their god, and you’re going to have to muscle your way to the altar.”
This expansion adds new characters, enemies, battles, weapons, and armor to the base game.
Wasteland 3 is the third installment of the post-apocalyptic video game series that started back in 1988 with roots planted deeply in the original Fallout game. The series has enjoyed a resurgence at the dawn of crowdfunding in 2012 with Wasteland 2, while this third game marks an overall improved experience set in the mountains of Colorado. You can check out our interview with inXile founder Brian Fargo last year where he talks about the expansions and the future of the games.
In addition to the option of purchasing this expansion on Xbox One or the Steam store for $6.99, you can also spring for the entire Colorado Collection, which includes the base game, both expansions (The Battle of Steeltown and Cult of the Holy Detonation), and special Colorado Survival Gear bonus items all for only $49.99.
And to sweeten the deal even further, the Colorado Collection is currently 30% and Xbox Game Pass members can get 10% off.
