Comic-Con@Home, the virtual version of the traditional Comic-Con for these crazy pandemic times, is over and done, but we still have lots of exciting tidbits to comb through and report. One of those is the premiere date for The Walking Dead: World Beyond’s second and final season set for October 3.
This news is certainly welcome for The Walking Dead fans who are already gearing up for the eleventh season of that main series on August 22 and spinoff hit Fear the Walking Dead which enters its seventh season on October 17.
The Walking Dead: World Beyond is a spinoff series set in Nebraska 10 years after the zombie apocalypse started. It follows a small group of teenagers in a story about the first generation of survivors to grow up during the apocalypse.
Unlike the other spinoff series, Fear the Walking Dead, World Beyond does not star any members of the original TWD cast. It’s often been called the “young adult version of The Walking Dead” but has developed a strong following of its own.
The pre-recorded Comic-Con@Home panel featured cast members Aliyah Royale, Alexa Mansour, Nicolas Cantu, Hal Cumpston, Nico Tortorella, Annet Mahendru, Julia Ormond, Jelani Alladin, and Joe Holt who discussed the first season and a tiny bit of what to expect in the second season. A 2-minute clip of that second season was also released to get fans ready for October 3.
With those three connected shows spaced out as they are, we can expect to be completely saturated in TWD content from August well into 2022. It will be a bittersweet time, though, as both World Beyond and the parent series will be ending. Hopefully Fear the Walking Dead can carry us through a few more seasons as it seems to be getting better and better as it matures.
