When Is The Walking Dead Returning for Season 11 Part 3?

The Walking Dead is just completing Season 11 Part 2 (in fact, you can read our review of S11E16 right here if you’ve already seen it.) But when is TWD returning for Season 11 Part 3? Unfortunately, it’s going to be a long hiatus. Here’s what we know so far, as of the time of this article’s publication.

The Walking Dead Will Likely Return in September or  October

Season 11 Part 3 is going to be the final season of The Walking Dead. We’ll be wrapping up the last few episodes and the series will then be over. In fact, filming for Season 11 Part 3 already wrapped. So while fans are going to say goodbye later this year, the actors have already said goodbye to the series.

Although we don’t have an exact date for the show’s return as of the time of this story’s publication, we have a pretty good guess based on some clues that have been dropped. We know that the final block is going to be eight episodes long. We also know, based on a post shared on AMC’s Connect platform for advertising clients and sales executives, that AMC is going to host a live fan event for the finale in Los Angeles, and they are planning that event to take place in November

From there, it’s fairly easy to estimate an approximate return date based on the eighth (and final) episode in the block airing in November. If the finale airs on the earliest possible date of November 6, then the earliest the first episode could air on TV (if they air one episode a week) would be Sunday, September 18. (Of course, AMC+ might air one week earlier.) If the finale airs on the last possible date of November (which would be November 27), then the latest the first episode could air on TV would be Sunday, October 9.

So basically, we’re looking at a window of September 18 to October 9 for the premiere of the Season 11 Part 3 (if an episode is going to air each week without interruptions. If there are breaks, that would change the math a bit.)

More Spinoffs Are Planned

If it’s any consolation, this won’t be the end of TWD Universe, even if the series is over.

Dead in the Water, a spinoff of Fear the Walking Dead, premiered on April 10. All six episodes have dropped at once, so you can binge watch this one if you want. It’s a limited series, so this will be the only season.

Maggie and Negan will star in a new series called Isle of the Dead. This one will be six episodes long. (I wish it was longer, to be honest!)

An anthology series called Tales of The Walking Dead is also in the works. This one will also be six episodes long. (Here’s hoping they’ll renew it for a second season!)

And of course, we’re still waiting on those Rick Grimes movies. I know they’re still planned, but wow we’ve been waiting a long time.

And there was mention of a Walking Dead comedy series too.

In addition, there’s the highly anticipated Daryl and Carol spinoff. I can’t wait for this one.

And of course, Fear the Walking Dead is still airing too, and we’re covering each episode right here on the site.
