Most of the time, we’re excited about timers counting down and reaching zero. From New Year’s Eve to the amount of time left at work (Fridays, amirite?), counting down usually means something great is to come. When it comes to The Walking Dead series finale though, it’s a bittersweet countdown. We’re all excited about it airing, but this will be the last time that we’ll hear the famous theme song hit our screen. So, when can we expect it to air and can we please have a countdown? Here’s the info you need below, including a live countdown to the premiere in the second section of this article.

When Will The Series Finale Air?

The finale was not planned to air early as previous episodes were, all for the sake of avoiding spoilers for anyone. So regardless of having an AMC+ subscription or not, everyone will witness the finale at the same. And that time is 9:00 p.m. Eastern/6:00 p.m. Pacific, this coming Sunday, November 20.

It will air following a red carpet event at 8:30 p.m. Eastern, so be sure to tune in before the finale hits our screens. It’s also planned to last for 90 minutes, so get your snacks and drinks ready so that you can stay glued to the screen when it all goes down.

Here’s a live countdown to the finale. The countdown is timed to when the episode starts at 8 p.m. Central/9 p.m. Eastern, not when the red carpet event begins.

Countdown

The countdown above should be responsive to any mobile device. You might as well keep this page and the countdown open, so you can know exactly when the finale episode starts!

What To Expect in the Finale

On Entertainment Weekly, Norman Reedus said that a lot of people were going to die. Maybe.

“There’s a lot of emotion. There’s a lot of fear. There are all of the things that you would want in a finale, for sure. There’s a lot happening. Some of the groups show some real bravery that you don’t see coming, which is great. And they’re big sets — big badass movie sets. And then everybody dies. NO, KIDDING!”

But was he kidding?

According to a tweet by the official TWD account, they asked followers who they thought was going to die, or rather who would survive, and provided a card with many characters’ faces.

A little bit grim, isn’t it? But with all that, it will probably be a very intense and emotional finale, especially for fans who have been following since day one.

Of course, this isn’t the end of the series. We still have the Negan and Maggie spinoff, the Daryl spinoff, and the Rick and Michonne spinoff, just to name a few. And then there’s Fear the Walking Dead too. But still, it’s going to be tough to say goodbye.

Let’s hope that we can retain our tears for the end of the finale, because I have a feeling that many of us are going to be crying waterfalls the entire time.
