How to Watch the Big ‘Talking Dead’ Announcement About ‘The Walking Dead’

The upcoming episode of Talking Dead is rumored to include a big announcement about The Walking Dead universe. If you want to learn the big news live with everyone else, here’s how to watch (along with all the clues we know so far about what to expect.)

Talking Dead Airs Sunday Night, December 5

The new episode of Talking Dead airs on Sunday night, December 5. It will air on TV on AMC right after Fear the Walking Dead and The Walking Dead: World Beyond’s series finale. According to TV Guide, the series finale will end at 10:28 p.m. Central, because both World Beyond and Fear’s episodes are lasting a little longer than an hour. So that means the new Talking Dead is airing at 10:28 p.m. Central/11:28 p.m. Eastern.

The new episodes also air on AMC+, but despite both Fear and World Beyond’s new episodes already being available early on the streaming service, Talking Dead isn’t there yet. So more than likely, whether you’re wanting to watch on TV on AMC or online on the AMC Plus streaming service, the new Talking Dead will air at the same time on all platforms: Sunday, December 5, at 11:28 p.m. Eastern.

The schedule for Sunday night on TV is: Fear the Walking Dead (8 p.m. Central), World Beyond (10 p.m. Eastern/9 p.m. Central – starting about 15 minutes later than normal this week), Talking Dead at 11 p.m. Eastern (starting 28 minutes later than normal this week because both FTWD and World Beyond are longer episodes.)

Clues About What’s Being Revealed

We don’t know what’s going to be revealed, but it sounds like it’s going to be big news. However, Scott M. Gimple has told fans that the big news is not about the Rick Grimes movies, even though they are still happening.

First, he retweeted an announced about Talking Dead’s secret extra guest and wrote: “This will be BIG.”

But then he backtracked a bit on Twitter and clarified, writing: “I see this blew up a li’l bit. It’s big, but it’s not about Rick Grimes. We’re sorry some things are taking a while — this announcement is something, though, that’s been a long time coming. THANK YOU for being with us on this journey; everyday alll around the country (& the world!) we endeavor to make stuff to thrill you, to intrigue you, to make you feel — we’re working hard not to let you down. If you dig the TWDU, Sunday’s news will be massive and momentous.”

So whatever is being announced is not about the Rick Grimes trilogy of movies, but it is about something “that’s been a long time coming,” according to Gimple and is also “massive and momentous.”

The original tweet said this is a “super secret TWDU surprise guest” – so it’s someone involved in The Walking Dead universe, but the tweet revealed no further details than that.

My personal guess is this will be about a spinoff series, maybe one that discusses the virus’ origins or perhaps an announcement about the long-awaited anthology series. What do you think?
