Sadie Sink, whom you may know best as Max on Stranger Things, has landed a new role on an upcoming post-apocalyptic rock opera called O’Dessa.
Sink enjoyed quite a year in 2022 with her stand-out performance in the fourth season of Stranger things, along with a critically acclaimed role in Darren Aronofsky’s The Whale with Brendan Fraser. Sink was nominated for 8 awards for The Whale, in which she won two: Rising Star and Best Young Actress. But this latest role will focus on a bit of a different aesthetic.

What is O’Dessa about?
O’Dessa will star Sink as a farm girl in a post-apocalyptic America who sets out on a hero’s journey to find a family heirloom but finds an unexpected love along the way. According to a press release, her character must save her lover’s soul with “the power of destiny and song.”
Sadie Sink is no stranger (get it?) to singing roles as she’s played the title character in the Broadway play Annie since 2012. With this new film being labeled a rock opera, we’re curious to see how it all comes together.

O’Dessa will be written and directed by Geremy Jasper (Outlaws, Patti Cake$) and produced by Michael Gottwald, Rodrigo Teixeira, and Noah Stahl, who all worked on Patti Cake$ with Jasper.
While further details are not yet known, we do know that filming will begin in May of this year in Croatia.
