Although Chainsaw Man’s anime is premiering sometime in October, there’s going to be a special event where a lucky few people will get to watch the first episode early. In fact, depending on the date of Chainsaw Man’s premiere, the special event might air Episode 1 as far as a month early or even more. Here are all the details about what’s happening and how you can have a chance at attending. The requirements are pretty strict, so you’ll want to read all the details closely.
The Early-Access Event Takes Place on September 19
MAPPA announced that on September 19, a special Chainsaw Man event is going to take place. This event will provide a screener of the very first Chainsaw Man anime episode.
Because Chainsaw Man isn’t airing on TV and U.S. streaming until sometime in October, this means a small number of lucky people will get to see the episode a few weeks to a month early. MAPPA hasn’t yet announced the exact premiere date for Chainsaw Man.
During the September 19 event, we’ll also find out Chainsaw Man’s official premiere date in Japan and on Crunchyroll streaming.

The highly anticipated event is also going to reveal the opening and ending songs for Chainsaw Man, along with additional cast members from Japan.
It’s not clear yet when the English dub will be released, or when the English dub voice actors will be revealed.
According to the event’s webpage (translated to English), the event is described as: “TV anime Chainsaw Man episode 1 screening + post-screening stage greeting.”
Kikunosuke Toya (Denji), Tomori Kusunoki (Makima), Shogo Sakata (Aki), Ai Fairouz (Power), and others will be at the event.
The Requirements to Attend the Event Are Pretty Strict
If you want to be part of the special event, there are a few steps you’ll need to follow. Attendees are going to be chosen solely by lottery, according to the official Chainsaw Man Twitter. And only 300 people will get to attend.
First, you need to follow Chainsaw Man’s official Twitter account, which is here. Then you need to like and retweet the tweet below.

A translated version of the tweet reads: “@CHAINSAWMAN_PR Follow this tweet and invite 300 people to the 9/19 # Chainsawman World Premiere by lottery with RT !”
The translation is a bit imperfect, so to be on the safe side, you’ll want to follow the Twitter account, like the tweet, and retweet the tweet.
Chainsaw Man’s official website reveals a few additional details about how to attend the special event. Unfortunately, these details are going to rule out quite a few people. According to the translated webpage, you have until August 31 at 23:59 (Japanese time) to apply.
However, you must LIVE IN JAPAN to apply and win. 🥺
This will be an in-person event in Japan, and you aren’t even eligible to attend unless you live there. So, unfortunately, it looks like this event will not be streamed, so there won’t be an opportunity to watch it live online. It also looks like there won’t be an English dub of the early premiere and there likely won’t even be English subtitles.
If you do live in Japan and want to go, or will be in Japan when the event’s happening, then you’ll need to keep an eye on your Twitter DMs. If you’re one of the lucky people chosen, you’ll be notified via Twitter DM. If you delete your retweet or unfollow the account at any time, you’ll become ineligible. If your own Twitter account is set to private, so your tweet can’t be seen publicly, you’ll also become ineligible.
Attendees will be required to wear masks during the event. You also might be asked to leave the venue if you cheer, interestingly enough.
Here’s When to Get Live Updates as the Event’s Happening
The official site notes that the event itself is taking place at TOHO Cinemas Roppongi Hills in Tokyo on Monday, September 19, and doors will open at 19:00 (Japan time), with the event starting at 19:30.
So if you’re wanting to follow along live to get all the updates (even if there’s not a live stream of the episode itself) this translates to 5:30 a.m. Central time on Monday, September 19. In other time zones, that’s 6:30 a.m. Eastern, 4:30 a.m. Mountain, and 3:30 a.m. Pacific.
So if you want to follow along live in the U.S. on September 19, you’ll want to get up really early.
Just note that live updates might not be readily available. The official webpage for the event notes: “The use of cameras (including mobile phones) and videos in the venue is strictly prohibited. Baggage inspection may be conducted on the day.”
However, it does look like official media reps can take photos and videos, but regular attendees cannot. Of course, there will likely be a few sneaky attendees who manage to tweet about it while it’s happening.
So if you want updates as soon as possible and you’re in the U.S., you’ll want to get up early and follow along on Twitter. We’ll also provide updates right on this website.
