The Resident Evil animated movies adds another member to its family with Death Island, coming this summer. A trailer has hit Sony Picture Entertainment’s YouTube channel yesterday and fans are relieved to see Leon once again. Let’s take a closer look at details about Resident Evil: Death Island.
Resident Evil: Death Island Welcomes Back Leon S. Kennedy and Chris Redfield
Written by Makoto Fukami (Berserk, Resident Evil: Vendetta) and directed by Eiichirō Hasumi (Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, Assassination Classroom: Graduation), Resident Evil: Death Island takes place in the same world as the Resident Evil video games. It is the fifth part of the animated Resident Evil series and the fourth movie. It comes after the 2017 movie Resident Evil: Vendetta and the 2021 miniseries Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness.
Previously announced on February 2, 2023, this new movie is about a lady of unknown identity who thwarts the efforts of D.S.O. agent Leon S. Kennedy, who is on a mission to rescue Dr. Antonio Taylor from his captors. During this time, Chris Redfield, a B.S.A.A. agent, is looking into a zombie outbreak that has occurred in San Francisco. However, the origin of the infection cannot be determined. The fact that all of the victims had recently been to Alcatraz Island is the only thing they had in common with one another. Chris and the rest of his squad follow that hint and end up on the island, where they find another terrifying surprise waiting for them. And from the new teaser trailer, it includes zombie sharks and new creatures.
The events of the movie are going to take place in the year 2015, after the occurrences of Resident Evil 6 (which took place in 2013) and Resident Evil: Vendetta (which took place in 2014), but before those of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. Keeping up with the timeline yet? Good, because fans of the show and the series are definitely keeping up, too.
User @Savio1656 on Youtube commented on the video, saying “I’m so happy that Leon and Jill will meet in this movie, now we have the new dynamic team, Leon Jill Chris Rebecca, Thank you Capcom! ❤”.

What is Resident Evil?
Capcom is responsible for developing the Resident Evil video game series, known as Biohazard in Japan. It includes survival horror games, third-person shooter games, and first-person shooter games, and it challenges players to stay alive in surroundings teeming with zombies and other monsters. A live-action film series, animated film series, television series, comic books, novels, audio dramas, and other forms of media and merchandising have all been introduced as part of the franchise’s expansion.
In the earlier parts of the series, the primary focus is on a band of individuals who wage war against the Umbrella Corporation, a pharmaceutical business that creates the T-virus and other mutagens as part of its covert “bio-organic weapons” research. The mutagens have the ability to mutate people into zombies in addition to transforming other creatures into terrifying monsters.
