The upcoming second season of HBO’s Raised by Wolves has been teased this week with a brand new trailer that continues where we left off with Season One.
The Ridley Scott series focuses on two androids who have landed on a strange planet after a great war destroyed Earth. The androids, aptly named Mother and Father, bring human embryos to the planet and raise the children to continue humanity. As with any child-rearing situation, it gets way more complicated than that.
The first season enjoyed positive reviews from critics, holding steady to a 74% Rotten Tomato score and a Metacritic score of 64 out of 100. While this might not seem like A+ scores, reviewers had some nice things to say about the sci-fi series.
“The storyline is involved, but keeps a viewer off-balance in a good way,” remarked John Anderson of The Wall Street Journal. “It looks great. And Mother… is the most memorable female/female-like space entity since Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley in Alien.”
Of course, there were also a few negative reviews, as can be expected. Darren Franich, while giving the series a B- score for Entertainment Weekly, said: “I’ve seen six episodes, and worry that the momentum drags. This is the kind of show where two sides fight, and then spend half a season preparing to fight again. The eccentric performances are intriguing, though.”
This second season trailer shows what we can expect as the story continues on from the epic finale from Season One.
The trailer opens with a shot of Mother, but we see all of other regulars like Father, Campion, Marcus, Sue, and the children. We’re also introduced to a few brand new characters as well.
Probably my favorite clip from this trailer is when Mother approaches a giant rifle, looks around suspiciously for anyone watching, while her voiceover narrates: “I feel things… impulses.” Oh, this should be good.
Raised by Wolves Season Two will premiere on HBO and HBO Max on February 3, 2022.
