The nominees for the 94th Annual Academy Awards have been announced and we’re pleased to see some post-apocalyptic love on the list this year.

The big event will take place at Hollywood’s Dolby Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, March 27. For those of us watching from home, tune-in time is 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on ABC.

So let’s get to those nominees!

Don’t Look Up

The Netflix original disaster movie, starring Leo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence (plus a host of other big names), is nominated for Best Original Score via Nicholas Britell, Best Original Screenplay, Best Film Editing, and Best Picture!

The Mitchells vs. The Machines

This animated disaster comedy was a big hit with us here at the site, and for good reason! The movie tells the story of the Mitchell family who gets caught in the middle of a robot apocalypse while on a wholesome family road trip. It stars the voice talent of Maya Rudolph, Danny McBride, Fred Armisen, Conan O’Brien, and many more.

The Mitchells vs. The Machines is nominated for Best Animated Feature Film.

Dune

The most recent adaptation of Frank Herbert’s 1965 novel has taken the world by storm and its 2022 nominations prove that. The sci-fi classic adaptation stars Timothée Chalamet (who was also in Don’t Look Up), Oscar Isaac, Rebecca Ferguson, Jason Momoa, Dave Bautista, and many more fine actors.

Dune has been nominated for Best Costume Design via Jacqueline West and Robert Morgan; Best Sound via Mac Ruth, Mark Mangini, Theo Green, Doug Hempbill, and Ron Bartlett; Best Original Score via Hans Zimmer; Best Adapted Screenplay; Best Film Editing; Best Makeup and Hairstyling; Best Visual Effects; Best Production Design; and Best Picture! Whew!

We wish all of these movies the best of luck! Let’s do the genre proud! If you’d like to see the complete list of 2022 Oscar nominees, head on over to E! Online.
