Our short story writing contest has returned! Last year’s contest was such a hit with our readers that we couldn’t wait to do it again this year. And this year we’ve increased the grand prize money AND we have a special treat! Our top winners and other select entrants could be selected for a Post Apocalyptic Media anthology to be produced in 2023. Further details on that will be worked out after the contest is over and participation is optional.
Here are the basics: We’re looking for a short story (between 2k-5k words) within the post-apocalyptic genre. Your story can be fiction, non-fiction, past, present, or future, but it MUST take place after some sort of global catastrophe. Read along for complete rules and terms:
Terms and Conditions
- No entry fee!
- All submitted entries must be your own original work that has never been previously published.
- Only short stories will be considered and they must be between 2,000 and 5,000 words in length, written in English.
- Entries must be within the post-apocalyptic genre.
- All contest participants must be 18 years of age or older at the time of submission.
- No purchase necessary to enter.
- One entry per person.
- Open to anyone worldwide. Void where prohibited by law.
- Employees of Post Apocalyptic Media are not eligible.
- Winners and all entrants retain all publishing, copyright, and reprint rights to their story. Post Apocalyptic Media does not retain any ownership rights.
- All judgments are final.
- The contest begins on September 1, 2022 at 12:01 a.m. ET and ends on December 16, 2022 at 12:01 a.m. ET. Winners will be contacted through email and announced at the end of the year.

Email body: The author’s name, story’s title
Attachment: Short story must be sent as an attachment in .pdf or .docx format
Only email submissions that follow these guidelines will be accepted
