Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes is the prequel to the wildly popular Hunger Games books and movies. While the prequel book released on May 19, 2020, the film version from Lionsgate is expected to premiere on November 17, 2023.

And for those of you who are fans of both Hunger Games and Game of Thrones, you may be pleased to hear that Peter Dinklage will be joining the cast of the film as Casca Highbottom, the dean of the Academy.

Dinklage is perhaps best known as Tyrion Lannister on HBO’s Game of Thrones, but he’s no stranger to post-apocalyptic roles, either. He played the role of Del in I Think We’re Alone Now, a grossly underrated film that tells the story of a lone survivor of an apocalypse who finds out that he might not be as alone as he thought.

Peter Dinklage will be joining the cast of the film as Casca Highbottom, the dean of the Academy.

“With production underway, we couldn’t be more excited about the way this cast has come together and thrilled to be welcoming Peter Dinklage to Panem,” said Nathan Kahane, president of Lionsgate’s Motion Picture Group.

“Peter is not just a fan favorite actor who brings a commanding presence to every part he plays. He is one of the best actors alive. He will bring a formidable, charismatic authority to the important role of the dean of the Academy,” Kahane added.

The film’s cast will also include Tom Blyth as young President Snow, Rachel Zegler as Lucy Gray Baird, and Jason Schwartzmann as Lucretius “Lucky” Flickerman.
