“No one knew which came first… the hybrids or the virus,” the new teaser trailer for Netflix’s Sweet Tooth proclaims. “But that question would become the biggest mystery of our lifetime.”

Sweet Tooth is an upcoming adaptation of the wildly popular post-apocalyptic DC comic series of the same name by Jeff Lemire. This Netflix series tells the story of a small boy named Gus who is part human, part deer. The origins of his mutations, and those of others like him, are a mystery that causes many humans to hunt the hybrids. Gus and his new friend Jepperd set out on a journey to discover the origins of the mutations and what they mean for humanity.

This trailer is both whimsical and sad, showing Gus’ struggles as his father teaches him to be strong in this new life. “Some bad people are still out there,” Gus’ father warns. “You have to be brave.”

Sweet Tooth stars Christian Convery as Gus, Nonso Anozie as Jepperd, and Will Forte as Gus’ father. It is executive produced by Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr. and his wife Susan.

Sweet Tooth
will release exclusively for Netflix on June 4, 2021.
