The Handmaid’s Tale Season 5 seemed to just have started, but as we know, time flies! This new season is actually almost done and we’ll have to say goodbye to our favorite characters pretty shortly. It seems like every episodes and pieces of news flash before our eyes and bring us on the edge of our seats. With the latest episodes being so intense, we have to wonder; how’s it all going to end? And when? Here is how many episodes left until The Handmaid’s Tale Season 5 finale.
After Today, Two More Episodes Are Left until The Handmaid’s Tale Season 5 Finale
After today’s episode, which is episode number eight, titled “Motherland”, there will be two more episodes. “Allegiance” scheduled for November 2, and the finale, “Safe”, airing on November 9.
Today’s episode has a short synopsis on IMDB, and it reads “June receives a tempting offer from a surprise visitor. Serena hits rock bottom and searches for allies.” and the promo for the episode was filled with extremely emotional scenes and images. You could feel how tense this one is going to be and how aggravating (let’s face it, we’ve all felt frustrated while watching this show!) it’s going to get for our favorite characters. Take a peak for yourself!
The official The Handmaid’s Tale Twitter account asked their fans via a poll “Do you have sympathy for Serena?” and to this date, the “No, she had it coming” is winning by a longshot.

What is your verdict? Are you with the majority or do you feel empathy for her? It seems like even Hulu itself can’t help but vote “No.”

You can read for yourself how tonight’s episode will be filled with possible major storyline through our recent article. As for the last two episodes following next, we can only make speculations at this date. One thing is for sure though, fans are still processing, and might keep processing until next season.

What About the Season 5 Critics?
The critics for season 5 are pretty good. On Rotten Tomatoes, 21 critics have given the fifth season a rating of 7.1/10, which means that 81% of them liked it. The site’s critical consensus says, “The Handmaid’s Tale has lost its urgency after spreading its once-arresting premise thin in a season focused on vengeance’s consequences, but the women of Gilead are still played with compelling exactitude.” Based on 7 reviews, it got an average score of 63 out of 100 on Metacritic, which means that most people liked it.
Let’s hope that this will also be the case for awards shows. In 2021, The Handmaid’s Tale set a record for Emmy losses, with 21 nominations and zero wins total. Fans of the show were divided; some thought the series was getting worse, while others were saying it was the best so far. With Season 5’s critics, we can expect that sadly, this will be the same this year. With a 7.1/10 on Rotten Tomatoes and 60% on Metacritic, as good and as invested as fans are this year, the expectation for Emmy win is pretty much the same. The Handmaid’s Tale did win an Outstanding Series award with the Women Film Critics Circle in 2021, but this year has won none so far. Who knows! The finale might blow a lot of critics away and we’ll finally see the crew of The Handmaid’s Tale on the Stage.
