How to Throw a Handmaid’s Tale Watch Party for Season 5
First off, it’s probably safe to say that while it’s great to celebrate the show’s return, try to avoid going too far and celebrating how the women look and live in the show. While trying to be an attractive Handmaid might be a fun idea to some, it definitely won’t be praised online. The extra cringy Instagram posts that Kylie Jenner put online, for example, received a lot of backlash.

Now, onto other ways to throw a watch party, Handmaid style!
How Can I Decorate the Place?
Many people who host Handmaid’s watch parties tend to go with a red-themed motif, since this mirrors the color that Handmaids wear. Of course, red flowers, especially tulips, might be important as part of your decorations while holding your watch party.
If you plan on drinking wine (or from a wine glass) these wine glass charms will be perfect for your guests.
If you want to lean into the red theme, these hanging paper pompoms can also accentuate your watch party room. They also come in white and could make a wonderful combination together!
Of course, what’s a party without balloons? Make your place pop by placing a few red balloons on your table, tied to items, or even on your wall with a tiny piece of tape. If you’ve got a helium air machine, even better! Something even more elegant instead of balloons are red paper lanterns! They can go very well with pompoms, too!
And if you feel like going the extra mile, why not add a little decorative light to your room with those battery-operated fairy lights? This will make for a super serene ambiance.
You’ll also want to put some food on a table for your guests, so a red tablecloth would be really fitting for the occasion too.
You can also create your own Pictionary game for after the show! A user on Reddit posted their own, but it would be interesting to see what you can also come up with. The best fans of the show will have the most wonderful ideas.
What Should I Serve During the Watch Party?
A good party is always great when it comes to food! Here are a few ideas of what to make for your guests.
The show has always been good at putting in the smallest of details within each shot. While this is not technically food you would be serving, coming up with simple designs and printing them to be glued on cans could add that extra ‘oomph’ you would be looking for on your food table! You can also use those pictograms on labels for the food you are serving.
Bruce Miller, creator and executive producer of The Handmaid’s Tale shared a detailed shot on Twitter about the cans in the show’s superstore.

A user on Reddit asked “Do those cookies count?” and, if you’ve got the time and skills, they should! Look for your favourite cookie recipe and use these models below as a reference. They will blow your guests away!
Others went the simple route and made a general charcuterie table. It’s safe and efficient, and your guests will have something to snack on whenever they want. You can use creative names like “Praise Brie,” “Blessed be the Cheese,” and “May the Board Open,” like the Redditor in the post below did.

They posted the list of ingredients in this Reddit post.
You can also name those after ideas from the show like this Redditor did. Some items were called “Blessed be the Fruit” (a fruit bow), “The Commander’s Favorite,” “Martha’s Bread,” and “May the Lord Open” for a cheese spread.

Another user on Reddit said to add some grenadine to your cocktails, and that seems like a wonderful idea!
And look at this cute dessert idea on Pinterest! The strawberry and whipped cream look exactly like the women’s outfits in the show.
And what about those cute little cupcakes? They are really adorable!
