Chris Hemsworth has been spotted in partial costume for his role in the next Mad Max film, Furiosa. The Thor actor was donning a red wig, a bushy beard, and a prosthetic nose, rumored to be for the character of Dementus, who will be the main antagonist in the Furiosa prequel to 2015’s Fury Road.
Hemsworth Looked Unrecognizable While Filming the Mad Max Movie
According to news.com.au, the 38-year-old actor’s entire family looked to be joining in on the fun as wife Elsa Pataky, their twin sons Tristan and Sasha, 8, daughter India Rose, 10, and his father, Craig Hemsworth, 67, were all seen playing parts in the scene being filmed south of Sydney, Australia.

The Mad Max Bible YouTube channel originally made this reveal last week but the video was taken down soon after. In it, the host explained much more about what the presumable “spy” photographs revealed, including info on fellow Furiosa actors Angus Sampson and Ian Roberts. He had really done his homework on the details of the video, so we hope it resurfaces soon.
Although Hemsworth’s role as Dementus has not been officially confirmed, he has been said to play the leader of a biker horde. The recently released synopsis for the movie names Warlord Dementus by name, as well as the biker horde itself.
Dementus was the leader of a gang called Biker Horde in the Mad Max video game, so it’s only natural to assume that Hemworth’s starring role will be that of Dementus.
While it’s already been said that the game’s lore will not directly coincide with the lore of the movies, we can’t help but see the continuous connections. In the game, Dementus had just taken over Gastown and turned his aim toward Immortan Joe’s Citadel. After killing one of Immortan’s sons, the two warlords became mortal enemies.
My guess is that Hemsworth’s character will be the main villain against the Citadel while Furiosa is there being conditioned from a young age. Maybe Furiosa and Dementus will eventually see that they have a common enemy in Immortan Joe? Either way, we didn’t really see Furiosa’s rebellion against Immortan Joe until part-way into Fury Road, but we could all tell that it was building for a while. Maybe Dementus plays a big role in that.
Mad Max: Furiosa is expected to release on May 24, 2024.
