After a long wait, fans of the darkly dystopian anime Chainsaw Man finally can add a release date to their calendars. While it hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, many people say they trust the source. But where the source got the information is a mystery. Here’s what we know so far.

Chainsaw Man Premieres in Mid-October, According to Sources that Anime Viewers Say They Trust

Just in time for Halloween (technically, a little before Halloween), Chainsaw Man will finally premiere. The release date that the show will air on TV in Japan is on Tuesday, October 11, about a month after this article is published. This is according to a source that many anime and manga fans trust.

The Twitter account @WSJ_manga tweeted that the anime will begin broadcasting on TV in Japan on October 11.

Redditors shed a bit more light on the source of the information, with one person noting that the release date comes from Ryokutya. AlexandreDemi7 wrote: “He leaks a lot of magazine based content. He’s probably the most trustworthy Japanese leaker out there because he always leaks verified information.” Others on Reddit joined in to say that they trust this source.

(Note: We won’t be publishing leaked manga content or anything like that. But the premiere date is an interesting rumor.)

Here’s the original tweet:

Translated, it reads: “TV anime [Chainsaw Man] Broadcast starts on October 11th.”

The webpage itself notes that the air time would be Tuesday at midnight on “TV Tokyo etc.”

The webpage makes no mention of where it obtained this information, or any other details. So there’s still al to of mystery surrounding this news.

If the time is accurate, this would be similar to Attack on Titan’s timing. Attack on Titan airs around midnight in Japan when new episodes premiere, with the English-subtitled version dropping later in the day on Crunchyroll (and in AoT’s case, Hulu and Funimation.) Considering that Chainsaw Man is also going to be heavy on gore, it’s not surprising that it will be on a similar scheduled.

The Release Date Hasn’t Yet Been Confirmed on Chainsaw Man’s Official Webpage

Interestingly, however, the date hasn’t yet been confirmed by Chainsaw Man’s official webpage. The webpage still notes that it will be broadcast on TV in October 2022, without mentioning a specific date.

The webpage also talks about the early world premiere taking place in Japan on September 19, which we discuss in detail in our story here

Crunchyroll also hasn’t confirmed this date yet (and they will be streaming the show outside of Japan).

Comicbook.com also notes the October 11 release date, but also reports that it has only been shared so far via the @WSJ_manga account.

So while we can’t say with 100% certainty that this is the release date, since the official website and Twitter account haven’t yet confirmed it, it more than likely is the Japan premiere date. This would fit in nicely with the schedule of some other popular animes that are airing at the same time. Bleach premieres on Mondays, and new SpyxFamily episodes premiere on Saturdays. If Attack on Titan comes back at any time in the near future, it would fit in nightly with its Sunday premiere schedule. (I’m personally, however, not anticipating any new Attack on Titan episodes until January.)

Here’s the official trailer, in case you haven’t seen it yet:
