An Official Ukraine Defense Twitter Account Shared a Chainsaw Man Parody Picture
Fans weren’t sure how to feel when Chainsaw Man bled into real life recently.
The official Twitter account for Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense shared a photo that basically took Chainsaw Man and remade the chainsaw into a weapon that the ministry of defense is using in the war. A translation of the post reads: “Today #HIMARS has a Ukrainian heart beating inside of it. Today #HIMARS wears Ukrainian military uniform.”

What is HIMARS? In case you don’t know, HIMARS refers to a type of weapon. According to a Lockheed Martin website, HIMARS stands for High Mobility Artillery Rocket System. The website notes that HIMARS uses a “wheeled chassis instead of tracks” to fire MLRS launchers.
Insider reported that Ukraine was recently given 12 long-range weapons systems (HIMARS) from the U.S. as part of an overall weapons delivery from Western countries.
Fans Had Mixed Reactions to the Tweet
On Reddit, fans had mixed reactions to the tweet.
Iced-TeaManiac wrote, “As crazy as it looks I’m pretty sure cartoon characters did similar things back in WWII. Then again this is one country referencing media from a completely different country so it still does make you double take.”
Another Redditor simply wrote, “What…what is this timeline?”
Others shared a similar sentiment.
Wrexonus wrote, “Idk if I should be impressed or confused.”
ProfessionThin9928 simply wrote, “surely Ukraine will win war on internet.”
GilgameshTheKnight wrote, “Bruh, never expected that the official Twitter account of Ministry of Defence of Ukraine will post a image with Chainsaw Man reference.”
Asgerond simply wrote, “2022 is certainly one of those years.”
What Is Chainsaw Man?
Chainsaw Man is a hugely popular manga that is releasing as an anime on Crunchyroll sometime this year. A lot of hype surrounded the Chainsaw Man Anime Expo panel, but little concrete information ended up being released. The new anime is being produced by MAPPA, who also has brought us Attack on Titan.
One big piece of information that was revealed at Anime Expo is that MAPPA plans to stay true to the anime, including not censoring some scenes in the manga that are particularly gory.
Back in mid-May, Crunchyroll announced that they would be streaming the Chainsaw Man anime, based on Tatsuki Fujimoto’s manga, sometime in 2022.
They noted, “Chainsaw Man will be available in Crunchyroll territories worldwide (excluding Asia), with additional dubs for the series to include English, Latin American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, French and German.”
A new event is happening on August 5, and more information about the anime is expected to be revealed then.
