Beyond Mankind: The Awakening is a newly announced single-player action RPG from Brytenwalda Studios that features hardcore survival elements in a post-apocalyptic world.
Inspired by classics such as Fallout, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., and the Metro series, Beyond Mankind: The Awakening may look like just a shooter, but it also includes crafting, resource management, building, space flight, and even a romance system. It was developed by a few folks who got their start modding Mount and Blade.
There is currently a free demo available on Steam during the Steam Game Festival. But hurry! That demo ends on February 9, 2021.
“Beyond Mankind: The Awakening features an exciting main story and secondary quests that branches off the main events,” a press release states. “You will tour the tunnels and ruins of Avalon, on the island of Santa Catalina, and pilot a scout ship to the ISS, where they are preparing for war. You create your character based on DNA and culture selection and must embark on a mission to help human civilization – exiled in space – while avoiding extinction and exploring what little resources are left to salvage. Collect or hunt for food, craft tools, find ways to keep warm, safe and take shelter when needed. Above all, your mental state must be carefully monitored to stay sane in a shattered environment and world. As you play you will face unexpected challenges with surprising solutions. Social interaction within the game is deep, and you will develop a personality-based kinship, loyalty and even romance with other characters.”
