Peter Meredith was a staple in the post-apocalyptic fiction community. Not only were his 41 books enjoyed by just about every fan of the genre, he was also extremely active on book-based Facebook groups and wasn’t afraid to offer advice to aspiring authors.
The 54-year-old author passed away yesterday after an unexpected accident, according to his son, Peter Meredith, Jr.
“To all my father’s fans,” his son wrote on Facebook, “Thank you for all of your support in the past for my father’s work. This morning Peter Meredith passed away from an unexpected accident. He loved you all so much, and constantly talked about how amazing his fans were. I’m sorry to bring you all this news, this account will probably be inactive for a few days as we try to process what happened to our father/husband/grandfather. We will try to keep you up to date.”
Peter’s work spanned through several genres, including horror, fantasy, drama, and post-apocalyptic. Some of his most popular books include the Generation Z series, the Undead World series, the War of the Undead series, the Apocalypse Crusade series, and many more.

While Peter was diagnosed with a form of early on-set dementia earlier this year, there’s no word on if that had anything to do with his accident.
Sadly, Peter and his wife Stacy had just celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary on July 2. “You are the air that I breathe, you are the sunshine in my sky and the heart that beats inside of me,” Stacy Thúy Meredith wrote on Facebook in honor of their anniversary. “You’ve always treated me like a queen, protected me like a warrior, and you are the most honorable man I know.”
RIP, sir. May your legacy live on through your incredible stories.
