Who’s the Woman [Aurora Perrineau] That Bernard Met on Westworld?

Westworld Season 4 Episode 3

Westworld Season 4 Episode 3 was a compelling episode that truly left viewers feeling like the “old” Westworld is back. One of the most interesting storylines involved Bernard and Caleb running into a woman who holds the key to saving the world. The actress who portrayed her is Aurora Perrineau. But who is the character? Here are the top theories.

This article has spoilers for Westworld Season 4 Episode 3.

Many Fans Think She’s Caleb’s Daughter, All Grown Up

The leading theory among fans is that Aurora Perrineau is portraying Caleb’s daughter, Frankie, now all grown up. So that would put Bernard’s timeline about 15 to 20 years in the future, beyond where Caleb, Mave, and Charlotte’s storyline is taking place.

If this is the case, it certainly wouldn’t be the first time that Bernard has been involved in a different timeline. This show does like to mix things up like that sometimes to keep us on our toes.

And it would make sense that Frankie is part of a pretty well-choreographed resistance group, considering what she learned from her dad and how interested she was in fighting and being self-sufficient.

But how would that mesh with what was happening with Caleb this episode? He found a host version of his daughter, pretending to be human, and that host infected him with those terrifying parasitic flies. In previous episodes this season, we saw that Charlotte (and even Dolores last season) only replaced humans if they had killed the humans already. But in this case, they would have to be holding Frankie captive somewhere or simply just chose to replace her even though they didn’t physically have her in their possession.

The last we saw of Frankie in this episode, she and her mom were escaping Charlotte’s host.

If the woman is Future Frankie, then the host is just a means of tricking Caleb into thinking Frankie’s dead. And Frankie and her mom escaped somewhere successfully.

One viewer on Reddit, UlrichNielsen 1, suggested that the weapon they’re seeking might be the tower itself that emanates sounds that control humans.

Some Fans Think the ‘Caleb’s Daughter’ Theory Is Too Easy

Some viewers don’t think that Perrineau is portraying Caleb’s daughter because that is simply too obvious of an answer. They think Westworld is known for throwing out red herrings, and the woman’s identity is going to be something else entirely.

One fan on Reddit suggested that maybe she’s Frankie’s daughter, and thus Caleb’s granddaughter. I’d love that twist.

Another suggested that she’s actually a host herself.

We Only Have a Few Clues Outside the Episode So Far

We’ve been given few, sparse clues so far outside of what happened in the episode itself.

In the “after episode” video, the character was simply referred to as “C.” Perhaps “C” stands for Caleb’s daughter. Or something else entirely.

In an interview with TV Insider before the season, executive producer Lisa Joy simply said: “[She is] as badass on screen as in life… [She’s] an amazing actor that we are thrilled to work with, who will learn more about as the season progresses.”

Perrineau herself isn’t revealing anything in her tweets.

In case Perrineau looks familiar, it’s probably because you’ve seen her on TV before. She’s the daughter of Harold Perrineau (he’s been on a lot, but I know him best as Michael from Lost.) (Her mom, Brittany, was in three episodes of Lost too, by the way!)

Perrineau herself has been on Prodigal Son (Dani Powell for 33 episodes), When They See Us (Tanya for two episodes), Chasing Life (Margo), one episode of Pretty Little Liars (Bianca), Jem and the Holograms (Shana), and more.

Although her identity isn’t yet known on the show, she’s already doing a phenomenal job in her role. We can’t wait to see more!
