On April Fool’s Day, a lot of Attack on Titan fans found themselves really worried (and sometimes excited) over and over about a movie or a sequel continuation after Season 4 Part 2 ends on Sunday. Here’s a look at the best jokes that were circulating on social media today.
One Person Claimed the Show Was Returning in April 2023
On Twitter, @qwinntrell claimed the show was returning with four hour-long specials starting in April 2023.

Another person wrote that they really hope a Season 4 Part 3 is released in the fall and we don’t have to wait so long.
I understand this is April fools but my heart did sink a bit when i saw this. I personally think the prod committee wants p3 out asap so likely fall release.
Just my opinion.— Fall (@korewaFall) April 1, 2022

Another Joke Claims the Finale Is Leading to a Sequel Series
Maybe one of the most epic jokes came from the Attack on Titan Wiki Twitter account, which created a fake Anime News Network story about the finale leading to a sequel series.
EXCLUSIVE: Attack on Titan isn't over, finale will lead to a sequel series pic.twitter.com/TG4tIObI3u
— Attack on Titan Wiki (@AoTWiki) April 1, 2022
This one was liked nearly 20,000 times, retweeted more than 2,500 times, and got more than 2,100 quote tweets. The account later admitted that they do an Attack on Titan April Fool’s joke every year.

The fake article claims that sources close to the author Hajime Isayama revealed that the final chapter of the manga is simply a pilot for a new sequel that will unify “all timelines” and make Gabi the new protagonist instead of Eren. The new series would also erase characters like Levi, Erwin, Krista, and more.
It’s obviously a joke, and of course we wouldn’t want a sequel to be like this fake article described. But wouldn’t it be great to have a spinoff of some sort for Attack on Titan? That would be amazing.
Another Joke Claims That Studio Wit Is Returning for a Movie
Another joke is claiming that Studio Wit is returning to adapt a movie based on Hajime Isayama’s suggestion.
This one’s obviously not true. In fact, many fans agree that MAPPA has done an amazing job with Season 4.
Another Joke on Reddit Claims It’s Returning in 2025
Another joke circulating on Reddit claims the show is returning on April 1, 2025.
They finally confirmed the continuation for AoT. from attackontitan
Obviously this would be a terrible reality. Waiting from April 2022 to April 2025 for the conclusion would be heartbreaking for fans.
The other part of the joke was the claim that it will be completed via a live-action movie. Thankfully there’s not even a chance of a live-action adapation concluding the anime.
Attack on Titan’s final episode in Season 4 Part 2 is airing on Sunday. The episode will release on U.S. streaming platforms at 3:45 Central (and concurrent times in other time zones.) This is relevant to the subtitled episode. The dubbed English episodes are about a month behind the subs.
