Anya Taylor-Joy has announced on her Instagram that she has wrapped filming for the upcoming Furiosa movie starring her in the iconic role of Furiosa.

Does this mean the film is done shooting?

“Thank you to those of the wasteland- the crazies who have run amok with me up and down this country,” Taylor-Joy wrote on Thursday. “The most fun, the most resilient, the most talented. It has been an honour and a privilege to create with you all… thank you for making me tougher than I ever thought I could be.”

The 26-year-old superstar plays Furiosa in this prequel film that tells the origin story of the role first made popular by Charlize Theron in 2015’s Fury Road.

The upcoming George Miller film has also been confirmed to star Chris Hemsworth and Tom Burke with Nathan Jones returning as Rictus Erectus and Angus Sampson reprising his role as the Organic Mechanic.

Taylor-Joy’s allusion to the film making her tougher than she ever thought she could be harkens back to an interview she did with Variety in June of 2021.

“I’m also really excited to do something physical. To physically become something else is something that will weirdly give me a lot of peace. I’m quite excited to work hard.”

Taylor-Joy signed off her social media post with the words “Fire, blood and guzzoline” and what I think will be the next great hashtag: “Furianya.” Can we make that a thing?

While the film was originally slated for a June 23, 2023 release, that has been pushed back to May 24, 2024. We can’t wait to see what comes next in the world of Mad Max!
