Storm Area 51 Raid Countdown: What Time Does the Craziness Start?

Don't even think about sharing this article.

The Storm Area 51 Raid is happening today (well, tonight/early morning if you’re in the United States.)  After all that hype, it’s finally happening, at least in some form. A bunch of events have sprung up and some people are still (supposedly) planning to participate in the original raid. Read on to find out just what time it starts and see a countdown. Sure, Area 51 isn’t technically a post-apocalyptic event, but stories about aliens are in so many apocalyptic tales that we couldn’t help but write about all the Raid Area 51 hype coverage right here on Post Apocalyptic Media.

The Original Event Happened from 3-6 a.m. Pacific on Friday, September 20

So here’s the deal about the Storm Area 51 Raid: It’s not as “official” as it sounded a few weeks ago. The Facebook event was converted into a one-night party and tour that has nothing to do with actually storming Area 51. The Alienstock festival was canceled (kind of), although a woman in Rachel, Nevada says she’s still doing something today and tomorrow. And two YouTubers were already arrested when they went to Area 51 last week.

Meanwhile, we still have some people who are supposedly planning to “storm” Area 51 as originally planned. Whether they’ll actually do it remains to be seen. And at the same time, a second group is planning to do their own storming almost 12 hours later. Yes, it’s a little confusing.

The original Storm Area 51: They Can’t Stop All of Us event (which got more than one million RSVPs on Facebook) is scheduled to happen between 3 and 6 a.m. PDT on September 20.

Yes, you read that correctly. The original event was (is) happening very late at night/early in the morning. The original Storm Area 51 event was (is) scheduled for Friday, September 20 between 3 and 6 a.m. Pacific (in other time zones, that’s starting at 5 a.m. Central/6 a.m. Eastern.) We just don’t know if anyone’s participating or how many will be there.

The Air Force told The Washington Post that Area 51 is an open training range and no one should go. “[Area 51] is an open training range for the U.S. Air Force, and we would discourage anyone from trying to come into the area where we train American armed forces. The U.S. Air Force always stands ready to protect America and its assets.” So anyone who tries to go could be putting their lives at risk and they will end up in jail. Two YouTubers were jailed on September 11 for doing just that.

Whether anyone is going to show up tonight remains to be seen.

A countdown for the time of the original raid is below. This is the time it was scheduled to start via the Facebook event. Remember, it’s not known if anyone is actually doing this anymore.

By the way, there’s one group who appears to be live streaming from Little A’LeInn in Rachel, Nevada. Sometimes you’ll see them showing a computer screen instead, but for the most part it appears that LDG STation is actually in Rachel, Nevada and streaming their experiences from Alienstock. You can watch the video below, which is the latest stream as of 2 a.m. Eastern. If it goes down, try LDG Station’s YouTube channel.

We can’t officially verify this YouTube video, but they did pan out multiple times to show a bunch of cars parked and camped out and are talking about how they’re going to stream themselves attempting to go to Area 51 later. They said around 2:45 a.m. Eastern that once they head to Area 51, there will likely be jammers and the stream will switch to their guy in the studio reviewing memes. But they’ll still be recording and will share what happens on their channel later if the stream goes down.

A Different Group Is Planning an Area 51 Raid at 4:20 p.m. on September 20

UPDATE: This second raid was canceled and switched at the last minute to 4:20 AM.

ORIGINAL story below:

Meanwhile, another group of people originating from Reddit are saying that they’re going to “storm Area 51,” but they’re planning an afternoon storming. Once again, it’s not known if anything is going to actually happen. Earlier today, u/Josiah69420 posted in the Raid Area 51 subreddit and wrote: “Tomorrow is the day my friends I say good luck to all of you in this War we shall fight the greatest fight of all history the Raid will start at 4: 20 p.m. get your weapons ready get your plane tickets ready godspeed to all of you let’s hope we can make it through…. ps make sure to record your battle so we may show it to generations of generations now godspeed my friends!”

This second group says their raid is happening on September 20 at 4:20 p.m. Pacific (6:20 p.m. Central/7:20 p.m. Eastern.)

They’ve even created their own countdown below:

This one is interesting and it’s unclear if it will actually be happening because a disclaimer at the end of a public Google Doc notes that it’s a joke.

The Party that Replaced the Event Is Happening in Downtown Las Vegas Tonight

The event is also “kind of” canceled, at least officially. Matty Roberts, who started the whole thing as a joke on Facebook, is now hosting a party/music festival in downtown Las Vegas at the Las Vegas Events Center tonight. It starts at 8 p.m. Pacific (11 p.m. Eastern/10 p.m. Central) and lasts until 1 a.m. Pacific. The official Facebook page for that event is here and it’s hosted by Bud Light, interestingly enough.

This event in Las Vegas is going to include a 40-foot-flying saucer, a pool that’s turned green, and other festivities, the Las Vegas Review Journal said.

It’s going to be an interesting 24 hours or so, that’s for sure. While you’re waiting for the festivities to begin, why don’t you watch a post-apocalyptic TV show on Netflix? If Hulu’s your preference, check out some post-apocalyptic movies on Hulu here.

Alienstock Is Still Happening Too

Oh, and Alienstock is still having their music festival at the same time, starting tonight on September 20 around midnight or so. The official webpage for Alienstock is here including a musical lineup. Connie West, who owns Little A’LeInn in Rachel, Nevada, has said that the event was still happening with 20 musical acts and two comedians and is scheduled for September 19-22. But Andrea Barker, who owns a store in Rachel, said the throngs of people that they had expected weren’t showing up, The Las Vegas Review Journal shared. West told the Las Vegas Review Journal today that the inn shut down its restaurant on Friday morning because the rest of the food is going to be handled by Alienstock vendors over the weekend. Entertainment for Alienstock is supposed to start at 9 p.m. Pacific (11 p.m. Central/12 a.m. Eastern.)

And here, in a local news report below, you can see that Alienstock is indeed still happening and it looks like it will be a lot of fun.

Connie West (Little A'Le'Inn) says they are down from about 2,000 to around 250 pre-paid tickets due to confusion leading up to #Alienstock in Rachel. She remains excited and says there are people from all over the world at the event. #Area51mania | bit.ly/2kmgQxd

Mick Akers of the Review Journal has been sharing updates on Twitter from Little A’Le’Inn.

And while all of this is going on, some YouTubers have made some interesting, and quite frankly pretty dark, videos simulating what’s going to happen at Area 51.

It’s going to be an interesting 24 hours or so, that’s for sure. While you’re waiting for the festivities to begin, why don’t you watch a post-apocalyptic TV show on Netflix? If Hulu’s your preference, check out some post-apocalyptic movies on Hulu here.
