One of the most interesting things announced in the March 25 Apple event was a new post-apocalyptic TV show starring Jason Momoa that will likely be available as early as this fall. Apple is launching its Apple Plus TV streaming service this fall, along with a slate of new TV shows. One of those is a post-apocalyptic tale about an Earth where everyone is blind. Although I’d heard about this series before, new details were released today, including some clips interspersed in a trailer of all the new shows. I’m pretty excited about this one.

This is a post-apocalyptic drama starring Jason Momoa and Alfre Woodard, written by Steven Knight. It takes place in a world where the Earth was devastated by a virus, leaving just a few million survivors who are all blind. The story begins when the human race has survived for so long that no one knows if sight ever really existed.

Woodard and Momoa talked about the series during Apple’s big event today. Woodard said, “How much of my experience from the world is visual? Without sight would it change who I am? This is a world constructed unlike any you’ve ever experienced.”

Here are some more screenshots I took that are of questionable quality, but give you a better feel for how beautiful this series looks like it will be:

Momoa is going to star as Baba Voss, a warrori leader and guardian of this post-apocalyptic world. That might be the closest we’ve seen to his Khal Drogo character since Game of Thrones.

For me, the most interesting shows aside from See coming to Apple are the ones that weren’t announced today, but have been talked about before, like a new scifi series by Ron Moore called For All Mankind, or a new series based on Isaac Asimov’s Foundation series. I’m curious about the new M. Night Shyamalan series coming to Apple. Or the scifi series by Simon Kinberg and David Weil.
