Wasteland Weekend 2018 is well underway. It started Wednesday and will last until Sunday morning, when the event concludes with a sermon by a preacher who has been fighting radiation poisoning for years. Many of us can’t get away and attend, but we still want to know what it’s like. Here are some photos that have been shared so far about the weekend (which is actually now a five-day event.) You can see some of the camps, costumes, and most importantly — the cars. (And by the way, if you’re really feeling sad, try a post-apocalyptic board game like this one to help you pass the time as you mourn missing out.)
These photos of #WastelandWeekend reveal the hidden Mad Max world AND those amazing cars. Share on XBy the way, that feature photo is from GeraldYOctober on Instagram. See all his photos here. He’s a fire dancer and a cosplayer who will be sharing a lot this weekend.
Here’s the line to get in:
Personally, I may like this costume the best. It’s just so realistic:

The Thunderdome Cage Matches Are Here
Every year, they have some pretty intense Thundercome Cage matches. I love this:
But there are many other fun places to go too:
And props to THIS creation:

I love how people put together tribes so they can have authentic experiences:

According to this poster, the weather is “interesting” for Wasteland Weekend. It’s getting into the 40s at night (which is pretty fun!) but all the way up into the 90s during the day. (Too bad it’s not in the 70s – that would be perfect.)
It seems like you could really get lost in this post-apocalyptic world. What a great place to go if you’re writing a post-apoc book!
We’ve got some videos too:
And some people look so happy to be here, it just makes me want to go too:
The Cars May Be the Biggest Draw
One of the big draws for the weekend are the amazing cars. A real Mad Max feel. I love the buggy. 🙂
Talk about creative:
And some of the cars are ready to go anywhere:
This next one really feels like Mad Max:
Anyone else wishing they were there?
