The Handmaid’s Tale is finally back. The first three episodes dropped for the final season, and there was a lot to unpack. From Nick having a reunion with June that took place much earlier than many fans expected, to Luke already getting out of jail (but perhaps only temporarily), to June’s reunion with her mom, there’s a lot to process.
And now it’s already almost time for the new episode. Will we revisit Aunt Lydia in what appears to be the unraveling of her belief in Gilead? What does Serena have planned next for the “liberalizing” of New Bethlehem? And how will Commander Lawrence help? Is Nick going to get in trouble for helping June?
I have even more questions than this! So of course, I’ll take every clue I can get about what’s to come.
According to Hulu, the new episode premieres on April 15, 2025. However, that depends on your time zone. In the Central time zone, it actually premieres Monday night, April 14, at 11 p.m. But if you’re in the Eastern time zone, you’ll be watching at midnight on the 15th.
Note: There will be minor spoilers for the upcoming season and the next episode below.
The New Episode Is Called ‘Promotion’

Season 6 episode 4 is called “Promotion.”
The synopsis on Hulu reads, “June disrupts the rebels’ plans. Commander Lawrence gains power and influence.”
To go with the synopsis is a close-up photo of Luke with an unknown man in the background.
It’s always interesting to note who isn’t mentioned in these brief synopses from Hulu. This one doesn’t mention Nick at all. Or Aunt Lydia. Serena is also conspicuously missing, although she’s certainly going to be tied to Commander Lawrence’s story.
Trailer & Photos for Season 6 Episode 4
If you’re looking for those extended Israeli trailers that we enjoyed last season, no one has found one yet for season 6. So we may have to make do with the shorter trailers.
Here’s the main trailer for Season 6 Episode 4 that Hulu released. But note: This isn’t just for episode 4, it’s for the entire season. Hopefully episodes after this will have trailers just for the next episodes.
We see June walking in the countryside and a voiceover saying, “I should have told you that I was here working with MayDay.”
It then cuts to Luke telling Moira, “I’m going to deliver my bombs to the locations I picked.”

June confronts Luke, saying: “You don’t know what you’re doing and you will not survive.”
But Luke replies, “This is my chance to fight for Hannah.”
Is June underestimating what Luke can do? Or does she just want him to stay out of harm’s way since they’ve been separated for so long? And is Luke feeling motivated to fight for Hannah because he sees how Nick is putting his life on the line to fight?

Nick’s father-in-law, Commander Wharton, says, “That was an alarming breach of security, son.”
“No eyewitnesses. One victim dead. The other’s in a coma,” Nick is telling someone. (I’m having a hard time believing that Nick didn’t kill everyone in that scene in episode 3, but I guess he didn’t.)
Wharton continues: “He’s slowly regaining consciousness. He could identify who committed this brazen act.”
In a new scene, we hear Naomi Putnam telling Lawrence: “They’re going to expect things from you now.”
“I can handle whatever the brain trust throws at me,” he replies.
Cut to this:

There’s a scene with June and Moira at night, and they have the bottom of their faces covered. “Wait!” June steps in front of a car and we cut to Moira saying, “June.” June says to Moira: “I need you to get us out of here.”
Next we cut to Janine. “I don’t need your help.” Lydia yells back, “I am trying to give you a way out.” And Janine replies, “There’s no way out.”
Then we see a shot of June in the background, angrily watching as someone out of focus in the foreground works on a device under a light. Could it be a bomb?

In the next scene, June asks Moira: “You sure you’re ready to go back?”And Moira says, “Hell yeah. We’re going to see this through to the end.”
The next scene shows Tuello handing a package of some sort to Commander Lawrence.

Then we see a bus that just brought a group of people to New Bethlehem. We cut to Rita getting off the bus as Serena waves happily to her.

Next we cut to a wedding with Lawrence saying in a voiceover, “Serena clawed her way back into power, she’s about to become queen of Gilead.”

“I really do believe that God brought me back here to change the country,” Serena tells Wharton. “Let’s change it together,” he replies.
And then comes a surprising scene where Nick and June kiss after he tells her: “Sometimes I think you’re the only good thing in my life.”
We cut to another scene where Aunt Lydia yells dramatically: “June Osborne. You did this.”
Then a shot of Serena saying, “What’s happening?”
And a shot of Lawrence saying, “Rebellion.”
In the next shot, we see Luke with a gun and explosions in the background, followed by a quick montage of other scenes.

There’s a lot to unpack. What intrigues you the most?
