An Attack on Titan movie has been announced, but it looks like it won’t be airing in the United States anytime soon. There’s also a new manga chapter releasing soon. But does any of this add up to rumors of a new sequel anime?

A New Movie Premieres in November, But Not in the U.S.
The new movie, called “Attack on Titan: The Last Attack,” will premiere on November 8, 2024, and only be in theaters for three weeks, according to the official Attack on Titan website. You can watch the trailer below or at this link.
The movie will premiere in theaters throughout Japan, but there aren’t currently any plans to expand its distribution to the United States, unfortunately.
Crunchyroll does have a history of picking up Japan movie releases later on its streaming service, so we’re holding out hope that this will eventually happen for the Attack on Titan movie too.
The Movie Won’t Have Any Major New Scenes
While the movie is a must-see for fans who can access it, it appears that it isn’t going to contain any new content. Rather, the 145-minute film is going to combine the last two episodes of Attack on Titan for a theatrical release that fulfills the director’s original vision, and it will feature some improved cuts.
Director Yuichiro Hayashi said about the film (in a translation):
“Please don’t say, ‘I can just watch the final part anytime on streaming!’ I originally drew the storyboard with the idea that it would be watched as a single movie, and having the opportunity to have everyone watch it in the best possible environment, the theater, is a dream come true for me. We’re also working on updating the visuals as much as possible. Please experience the Rumbling in the theater!”
The final two episodes of Attack on Titan were originally envisioned as one long episode, but MAPPA announced back in January 2023 that they were dividing them into two parts. After discovering how much work it was taking to make the last part, they had to delay the second half to give their production team more time.
A New Manga Chapter Is Also Releasing Its English Version This Summer
A new manga chapter and art book is finally releasing its English version in Summer 2025. The manga chapter, called “Bad Boy,” looks into Levi’s background and why he holds his teacup like he does. So while it’s not essential to the Attack on Titan storyline, it’s a fun little extra chapter that avid fans will enjoy.
The art book also includes an interview with Hajime Isayama, a replica of Mikasa’s scarf, and a replica of the basement padlock and key.
Meanwhile, on November 6, a special Attack on Titan magazine will be released that features select chapters from the already released series and new cover art.
All this to say… While a lot of new Attack on Titan content is releasing, none of the confirmed information is new storyline content except the “Bad Boy” manga chapter.
Rumors of a New TV Series Are Not Confirmed
There is a rumor, for those who don’t want to give up hope of new content beyond what we’ve shared… This rumor notes that Kodansha filed legal documents recently that might point to a new TV broadcast of some type. According to @AniTsumi on X, there’s a newly filed IP for Attack on Titan that specifies its use in an “ongoing TV series” and “production of animated TV programs.” They claim the IP was filed from June to August 2024 and doesn’t mention a movie, so they think it’s separate from the new film.
We have not been able to confirm this rumor, so it’s really up to you if you want to believe it or not.
