The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is a prequel to Suzanne Collins’ acclaimed Hunger Games trilogy. The movie adaptation is coming this afternoon to selected theaters and will make its worldwide release tomorrow. Streaming The Hunger Games: The Ballad of the Songbirds & Snakes
At present, “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” is exclusively scheduled for theatrical release. Given Lionsgate’s streaming agreement with Peacock, we estimate that Peacock will serve as the streaming platform for the Hunger Games prequel, with a probable release date in mid-2024. As of now, the only way to view the movie is by attending movie theaters, as it is set to be released on November 17.
An early release is available in a selected few theaters, so make sure to check with your local cinema to find out if the movie is available to you today.
About The Ballad of the Songbirds and Snakes
The official synopsis reads, “THE HUNGER GAMES: THE BALLAD OF SONGBIRDS & SNAKES follows a young Coriolanus (Tom Blyth) who is the last hope for his failing lineage, the once-proud Snow family that has fallen from grace in a post-war Capitol. With his livelihood threatened, Snow is reluctantly assigned to mentor Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zegler), a tribute from the impoverished District 12. But after Lucy Gray’s charm captivates the audience of Panem, Snow sees an opportunity to shift their fates. With everything he has worked for hanging in the balance, Snow unites with Lucy Gray to turn the odds in their favor. Battling his instincts for both good and evil, Snow sets out on a race against time to survive and reveal if he will ultimately become a songbird or a snake.”
Tom Keir Blyth, an English actor, has appeared in notable films such as “Scott and Sid” (2018) and “Benediction” (2021). He takes on the lead role in the MGM+ series “Billy the Kid” (2022) and plays a supporting part in the HBO series “The Gilded Age” (2022). Born in Birmingham, Blyth spent his formative years in Woodthorpe, a suburb of Nottingham.
Rachel Zegler, a singer and songwriter, was raised in New Jersey by her American father and Colombian mother. Among 30,000 auditionees, she secured the role of Maria in Steven Spielberg’s reimagining of the classic “West Side Story” (2021), starring alongside Ansel Elgort as Tony. Zegler initially performed the role in a presentation at the Bergen Performing Arts Center during her time at Performing Arts School. Her rendition of Lady Gaga’s “Shallow,” featured in the film “A Star Is Born” (2018), gained widespread attention and expanded her reach to a broader audience.
