With news recently filled with UFO stories, you would think that more documentaries would come to big networks. Thankfully, Steven Spielberg’s company and Netflix are teaming up for exactly that! The new TV mini-series titled Encounters will be coming shortly to Netflix. Let’s take a look at some more details.
What is Netflix’s Encounters?
First announced on Deadline, Encounters will tell the real stories of alien sources. Imagine weird lights in the Texas sky, alien-looking crafts lurking underwater in a coastal Welsh village, kids in Zimbabwe getting up close and personal with some extraterrestrial buddies, and aliens apparently messing with a nuclear power plant in Japan. Now picture these stories being told by folks who were right there when it all happened. Add in some input from scientists and military folks, and you’ve got this series that shines a light on how these encounters seriously shook up the lives, families, and communities involved. What’s great is that all this is happening at a time when military insiders are spilling the beans on aliens, UFOs, and top-secret Pentagon… secrets. And the major news outlets are jumping on the bandwagon too, making this a hot topic that used to be in the realm of conspiracy theories.
This is exactly what we’ll be getting on Netflix; four different stories that will explore the real-life events of those close encounters. Sources list Yon Motskin to be the director of Encounters, and he’s diving headfirst into these weird stories from the folks who actually went through them. The show has a crew of scientists and military people onboard, and they’re on a mission to unravel the mysteries behind these strange events. Plus, they’re shedding light on how these encounters left a mark on the people, families, and communities who were right in the middle of all the craziness.
Amblin Television, Steven Speilberg’s company, is teaming up with Boardwalk Pictures and Vice Studios to create this four-part documentary series. So while Mr. Spielberg himself won’t be directing the episodes, we still have high hopes for the quality of the show. The filmmaker has quite the track record when it comes to alien stuff, having directed Close Encounters of the Third Kind and producing Taken, that miniseries from 2002 all about alien abductions, so it’s a little disappointing that he won’t be bringing his expertise to the mini-series. Despite this, we are expecting the show to be fantastic.
This docu-series is hitting the scene at a time when military insiders are spilling the beans on alien encounters, UFOs, and hush-hush Pentagon projects. This has really amped up the excitement around a topic that’s fascinated folks for ages. And Spielberg’s production company is getting in on the action too, with an upcoming non-fiction project that explores this familiar territory. Encounters will premiere on Netflix this September 27.
