At this point, AMC should probably just hire Jeffrey Dean Morgan as their Social Media Coordinator. He’s releasing more information about The Walking Dead’s Isle of the Dead, and it sounds really exciting.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan Revealed Details About Filming

The Negan star is at it again with a brand new reveal on his Twitter account.

On Sunday, Morgan tweeted a photo of the script for the pilot episode of his upcoming spin-off series Isle of the Dead with the simple message: “Here we go.”

The script is written by long-time The Walking Dead writer and co-executive producer Eli Jorné while the directorial duties go to Loren Yaconelli.

Isle of the Dead will tell the story of Negan (Morgan) and Maggie (Lauren Cohan) as they survive what remains of the zombie apocalypse on Manhattan island.

“It… lets us explore a corner of this universe located on the island of Manhattan, with an iconic skyline that takes on a very different meaning when viewed through the lens of a zombie apocalypse,” AMC President of entertainment Dan McDermott said back in March when the series was announced.

The Series Is Filming in New York & New Jersey

Shooting for the series will take place in both New York and New Jersey, which is the first time a Walking Dead series has been filmed in those states.

“We’re gonna shoot in Manhattan, so I get to be home,” Morgan said on The Rich Eisen Show in March. “I think seeing zombies in Manhattan is gonna be super fantastic.”

AMC describes the first season as a show that “envisions the popular Maggie and Negan characters traveling into a post-apocalyptic Manhattan long ago cut off from the mainland. The crumbling city is filled with the dead and denizens who have made New York City their own world full of anarchy, danger, beauty, and terror.”

Morgan previously told fans that the series was going to blow their minds.

And a different tweet of his sparked rumors that he might be inviting Alycia Debnam-Carey to join in on the fun. Her character Alicia has left Fear the Walking Dead, with an unknown future.

Lauren Cohan teased the plot in an interview of her own.

“They are two people that are very much still not friends who are going to be seen in this new terrain,” Cohan said in an interview with CBR. “You’ll see elements of each of their characters that will be new and challenging, and it’s going to be awesome.”

While there is no set premiere date yet for Isle of the Dead, it is expected to drop in 2023 on AMC and AMC+.
