AMC has dropped its latest teaser trailer for the upcoming anthology series Tales of the Walking Dead.
Based in the same universe as the long-running zombie apocalypse drama The Walking Dead, this anthology explores the end of the world from six different perspectives. Some of these stories are from new characters and some are from characters we’ve seen before.
Check Out the Trailer Below
You can watch the trailer itself, if you haven’t seen it yet, in the video embedded above.
“This series, more than any other in the Walking Dead Universe, runs on new voices, perspectives, and ideas — bringing to life stories unlike any we’ve told before,” creator Scott M. Gimple said in a previous press release. “I’m thrilled to be (director ) Channing (Powell)’s consigliere, helping in every way I can to make those new visions real for the best fans in TV.”
The Trailer Showcases Several Cast Members Who Were Previously Teased
The trailer, entitled Beautiful Place, shows several of the cast members we’ve been teased in previous trailers and press releases. They include Terry Crews, Olivia Munn, Piper Posey, Samantha Morton, Poppy Liu, Jillian Bell, and more.

While the trailer is short, it packs a punch.
In the first scene, we see Piper Posey’s character asking Jillian Bell’s character if she wants to “try something new.”
Judging by a scene in a previous trailer that shows Posey’s character willingly getting chomped in the neck by a zombie, I can only imagine that the “something new” is becoming undead.
We also hear a bit of narration from Samantha Morton’s character, Alpha, who we’ve seen in previous seasons of the main TWD show.
“Time to show you how to survive,” she drawls. “Watch and learn,” she continues as we see her holding the hand of a young girl (maybe her daughter, Lydia?).
According to IMDB, fan-favorite Morton will play in three of the six episodes in Season One.
On Reddit, some fans commented that it looks like the show may be attempting Marvel-esque type humor for the new series. Redditor bloodyturtle commented, “predicting a lot of mcu type humor that everyone’s gonna complain about.”
Morganlee93 replied, “I don’t know if these TWD writers have the talent the MCU writers do to make the humor work, that’s largely what I’m concerned about lol.”
But some other fans caught some unique moments. Percussion-Realm commented, “Did anyone notice that the bridge Terry Crews was on looks like the bridge where Daryl captured Lydia in season 9.”
AMC’s Tales of the Walking Dead will premiere on August 14th with the first one-hour episode entitled “Heist.”
