The world is covered in water. You’ve managed to scrap together a few pieces of scrap wood, plastic, and iron to make a boat. Then some knucklehead comes along and starts shooting at you. Wait, where did they get that huge gun? I want one, too!
That looks like Age of Water in a nutshell. The newly announced MMO from Three Whales Studio looks incredibly promising with customizable boats, bases, and tons of crafting opportunities for you and your friends.
“The ocean destroyed a once great civilization, but people survived and adapted. They built settlements on the roofs of tall buildings and the tops of other man-made structures. People travel across the ocean in tiny boats and huge combat vessels. The ocean provides everything they need, including extractable resources on the seabed. And yet, the dream of real land is still alive.”
As a huge fan of water-based survival and crafting games, this looks to me to be the holy grail. Think of a mix between Raft, Flotsam, Ylands, and a touch of Fortnite in a massively multiplayer online setting.
Other promising features of the game include a true open world, underworld exploration, a vast economy, PvE and PvP, large naval battles, and more.
While the game has no release date yet, the studio is currently looking for players to join its closed beta. You can currently sign up for testing that will begin later this summer.
