One of the lead stars of Raised by Wolves is asking for fans’ help after HBO canceled the series. If there’s going to be any chance at getting a Season 3, fans need to step in now. The call to action came from Abubakar Salim, who plays Father in the series. And fans are already answering that call.
Here's what you can do to help #RenewRaisedbyWolves, according to @Abzybabzy, a star of the show. Share on XFans Need to Step up Fast, Said Abubaker Salim (Father)
Salim took to Reddit before the official cancelation had even been shared publicly, asking fans to take action and help save the series. He said that there’s a really good chance the series could be picked up by another network, but fans are going to need to step in fast if it will happen.
He wrote that nothing had been officially shared yet about the cancelation because of the unique position the show is in.
“…We’re in a unique position: we have a fully fleshed out and planned storyline, a Goliath of a production team behind us, incredible reception from critics and reviewers alike, and most crucially, a community base that is so strong internationally, it can not be ignored,” he wrote. “The reason the cancellation hasn’t been announced is because there’s still a chance the story can continue, and be finished at a new home.”
Shortly after he went public, the cancelation was officially confirmed.
Call to action #RenewRaisedByWolves
It’s not surprising, especially after the news of the mergers and what is happening at Warner, that a lot of shows are not having their stories finished.
— Abubakar Salim (@Abzybabzy) June 3, 2022
Salim continued, writing: “There is no denying that we are in a time where the power of a communities voice can make change. There’s been many instances we’ve collectively witnessed where this has happened, one within entertainment that springs to mind is getting Synders cut out there.”
He continued:
So I’m asking for a favour. I’m on this Reddit a lot (stalking and reading) and I have seen the brilliantly powerful passion and love you all bring for this show. The debates, questions (so damn many) and genuine enjoyment for good storytelling…I’m asking that you show that love, and have your voice heard throughout socials and help us find a new home.
Not gonna lie, it’s a slither of hope, and a lot of this comes down to the die rolling in our favour. But as some of you know, I enjoy rolling the dice every now and then, and rolling “nat 20s” seems to come easy to me 😉
So let’s give it a shot. Let’s give it our all. Let’s get that door finally open, and get the light we see of this show, flooding into other homes.
After fans began tweeting and sharing their love for the show, he updated the post, writing: “UPDATE: The studios are watching. Still day one. Keep going.”
He Asked Fans to Raise Their Voices with #RenewRaisedByWolves Through June 10
In the comments, he advised fans that one day of noise isn’t enough. He said that for best results, they should plan on pushing their love for the show on social media through June 10.
Most fans are using the hashtag #RenewRaisedByWolves. So if you post about the series, be sure and include that hashtag on whichever social media platform you prefer.
Others asked if rewatching the series on HBO could help, and he wrote, “Funnily enough, I reckon any action would help. The aim is to get it on the radar of people. Something that cannot be avoided.”
He also provided more ideas, writing:
If you know other fans who have a following, get them to push on it. I know Grace Randolph and Dalton Ross are fans of the show. So is a good friend of mine, Bryan DeChart and Matthew Mercer.
Beauty of this show is that it reaches further than just a community of people who watch TV/Film. It stretched to games. So even pushes on IGN and places similar is a mighty shout.
Others mentioned that they tagged HBO Max, AppleTV, and Amazon Prime Video in their posts.
Deadline confirmed the cancelation with HBO Max.
HBO Max wrote in a statement to Deadline: “While we are not proceeding with a third season of Raised by Wolves, we are beyond grateful to the stellar cast and crew, our creators Aaron Guzikowski, Ridley Scott, David W. Zucker, and the entire team at Scott Free Productions, for their beautiful artistry and unique ability to immerse fans into the world of Kepler-22b.”
A Recent Merger May Have Led to the Cancelation
Raised by Wolves was a popular series, but a recent merger may have led to the show’s end.
Salim wrote on Reddit, “It’s not surprising, especially after the news of these mergers and what is happening at Warner, that a lot of shows are not having their stories finished…”
He’s referring to a recent merger between WarnerMedia and Discovery. According to The Verge’s April 8 story, WarnerMedia and Discovery Plus have merged, allowing AT&T to “offload its content powerhouse to Discovery and form a new business under the name Warner Bros. Discovery.” WarnerMedia owned HBO Plus, which will eventually be merged with Discovery Plus into one service. David Zaslav, Discovery president and CEO, is leading the new merged company.
In an interview with EW, before news of the cancellation was released, showrunner Aaron Guzikowski said he was already working on the script for Season 3.
He said: “…Quite a bit is worked out. Quite a bit is worked out beyond that, and there’s quite a bit that will change, I think. I’m just looking for the best possible way to tell the story, so every day that changes a little bit to make it better, I think. But the plan and the themes and the point of it all, the soul of it, is definitely worked out.”
