In-depth analysis of Fallout 4 Trailer

#Fallout4 will be live streamed 7 pm PST on June 14! Share on X

By now you’ve seen the Fallout 4 trailer (and if you haven’t, watch it here):

But have you analyzed every single bit of the trailer? Are you sure you haven’t missed ANYTHING? I perused some great Reddit threads along with Twitter feeds and found tidbits and analysis that you might have missed. Here is an in-depth analysis of the Fallout 4 trailer, along with screenshots from the publicly released trailer.

Boston

YES, the new Fallout 4 is going to take place in BOSTON. All those rumors you’ve been hearing for years are TRUE. Some epic Boston sightings include:

  • Fenway Park (fortress)
  • Diamond City
  • Scollay Square
  • Orange Line trains
  • Mini Washington monument
  • I93 highway
  • Freedom trail
  • Skyscrapers

Vault 111

Vault 111 from Fallout 4
Vault 111 from Fallout 4’s trailer. Watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GE2BkLqMef4

The Vault 111 siting is HUGE. Does this mean we’ll get to play the character’s ancestor getting onto the vault? Or at least see that scene?

Some people think that the crib scene means we may play a baby who grew up in the vault. But other alert viewers say the woman was holding the baby when the bomb went off, so that’s not happening. (You can see that in the screenshot at the top of this post.)

Some interesting tidbits from the games: If you recall, most vaults opened in 20 years. However, some were experiments and didn’t open at all and some were designed to fail. At 1:29, you can see the U.S. Army guarding the vault.

Fallout 4 Vault

This vault also appears to have an elevator as an entrance… Interesting. That means it opens up, from the ground, rather than horizontally.

Post-Apocalyptic and PRE-Apocalyptic Play?

This is a HUGE question from the trailer. The post-apocalyptic play that we love is interspersed with very compelling pre-apocalyptic scenes. So the question is: will there be pre-apocalyptic play also? Could there be an ARG that’s pre-apocalyptic? Some ideas:

  • Pre-apocalyptic tutorial perhaps
  • Others have mentioned the script leak that mentioned being frozen. Perhaps this starts out with someone in the pre-apocalypse getting in a vault and then waking up from cryo sleep. To further back this up, if you sign up for updates, you’ll get an email that sounds like it’s written for someone just entering the vault.

One Redditor posted this email:

Fallout 4 Signup Letter

  • Another Redditor has a theory that the pre-war scenes are from a Memory Den from the Scollay Square screenshot.

The Dog

Fallout 4 Dog

We’ve got a dog in this one folks! Some people really hope they can play AS the dog. 🙂 I just hope this German Shepherd doesn’t end up like the one in I Am Legend. 🙁

The Guy with the Dog

As one alert Redditor mentioned, the same person standing over his son at 1:07 might be the guy we see with the dog at the end at 2:29. What do you think?

Personally, I think it’s a bit of a stretch. They are both just brown-haired guys. More likely he’s an ancestor, but I could be wrong. Please comment below and let me know what you think!

Does this mean Three Dog is returning?
