The Eighty-Six anime’s anniversary event is over, and fans are hoping that an announcement of some sort was made about Season 2. While the event itself wasn’t easy to watch online (you had to get a digital ticket), people who were there have been quick to share their experiences. Here’s what happened at the daytime and nighttime anniversary events on April 10 in Japan.
Eighty-Six Season 2 Was Not Announced
Let’s get the bad news over right away. During both the nighttime and daytime events, a Season 2 renewal was not announced. This is an immense disappointment for fans, who were really hoping for good news.
Although the Season 1 finale certainly looked like it was wrapping up the series, it wasn’t intentional. The show ended just like the light novels ended at that point. And there are a lot of light novels left and a lot of new ground to cover if they want to continue the show. While we wait on renewal news, you might even want to catch up by reading the light novels. We have all the details here.
So what did happen? Here are the details.
Here’s What Happened at the Anniversary Event
The event consisted of the cast reading from the script and sharing personal stories from their time working on Eighty-Six. Fans also got to enjoy some great musical performances.
Cast members who were present at Tokyo Dome City Hall, according to the official webpage, included Shoya Chiba (Shinei), Ikumi Hasegawa (Lena), Seiichiro Yamashita (Raiden), Natsumi Fujiwara (Theo), Saori Hayami (Anju), Sayumi Suzushiro (Kurena), Misaki Kuno (Frederica), and Yuya Uchida (Ernst). Also present will be Hitori, Hiroyuki Sawano, Kohta Yamamoto, Mizuki, Laco, Cumi, and Takahashi Honoka.
There were thousands of people just for the daytime event. On Reddit, u/99trickS28 shared photos here showing just how massive attendance was.
In fact, on Twitch Fightymypala event shared a video of the event. Some parts of the audio were removed, but you can get an idea of what happened.
