Last month, we reported on the tragic death of The Walking Dead actor Moses J. Moseley who died from a single gunshot wound to his head near his home in Georgia. After an initial report of suspected suicide, a new investigation concludes that the cause of death is not able to be determined.
To help comfort the grieving family of Mr. Moseley, President Joe Biden wrote a note giving his condolences. “Dear Moseley Family, Jill and I are sending you heartfelt condolences on the passing of your beloved Moses. I know there are few words I can share that will ease the pain of losing a loved one. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Though the grieving process never quite ends, I promise you the day will come when the memory of Moses will bring a smile to your lips before it brings a tear to your eye. My prayer for you is that this day comes sooner rather than later. Sincerely, Joe Biden”
The 31-year-old actor played one of Michonne’s pet walkers named Mike in 6 episodes of the long-running TV show. His character was so memorable to fans that he was often found signing autographs around the convention circuit and even had an action figure of his character.
TMZ was the first to report that Moseley’s death was suspected to be a suicide, based on the single gunshot wound and the placement of the gun in his hand at the scene, but the actor’s family fought hard to get the word out that they believed he was kidnapped and murdered.
Moseley’s sister, Teera Kimbro, told TMZ in a February update that her brother loved life and was very excited about the future of his rising career.
Additionally, a family member explained that “investigators pointed to evidence of blood splatter, the way the bullet entered Moses’ skull and his grip on the gun as not necessarily aligning with suicide.”
The TMZ update went on to quote Captain Randy Lee of the Stockbridge, Georgia, Police Department on the status of the investigation. “During the preliminary investigation, the potential of the death being a suicide was considered while not ruling out any other possibilities. As investigators progressed their investigation and more evidence was processed, reviewed and analyzed, other possibilities have presented themselves including accidental.”
