Fallout 4 Rumors

Guillermo del Toro’s production company may be involved

Seriously, what could be more exciting than THIS? If you’ve seen the series “Strain” (which is pre/during apocalyptic), then you’ll know what a GREAT choice he is. The rumor is that his production company has been hired to produce a cinematic trailer for Fallout 4. The rumor stems from 3D artist who added “Fallout4 cinematic trailer” to his LinkedIn profile. This same artist worked on Elder Scrolls, Far Cry 4, and others. The listing (which was later removed) said he was hired by Mirada Studios between December 2014-March 2015. Mirada Studios was set up by del Toro.

Unfortunately, the artist might be in trouble as more rumors are circulating that his post on LinkedIn violated an NDA. 🙁 His listing has since been removed and now his profile is even gone from LinkedIn. :-/ So it’s up to you whether you want to believe this rumor or not. Only time will tell.

Fallout 4 Official Announcement During E3

Another rumor speculates that Fallout 4 will be officially announced during the E3 conference. We’re crossing our fingers and toes for this one. Because Bethesda is hosting its first EVER E3 press conference this year, so that’s gotta be for something pretty darn big. The press conference is June 14 at 7 pm PT.

Demo at the E3 Press Conference

Even bigger than the announcement rumor that a demo of the game itself will be played behind closed doors at E3 on Sunday, June 14. The demo will be 20 to 30 minutes long. No official confirmation has been made yet, but this rumor isn’t without precedent. Bethesda revealed the first gameplay demo of Fallout3 during E3 in 2008.

Will Fallout 4 Take Place in Boston?

This is another rumor with some good meat to it, according to Forbes. Developers have been seen in Boston and some leaked audition papers point in the direction of Boston. Plus, Boston is huge in the Fallout mythos. Would you like to see Fallout 4 take place in Boston? Let me know in the comments below. And if you hear of any additional rumors, please tell me!

Leaked Documents

Kotaku posted back in late 2013 that there was a casting call for a gaming project called “Institute.” The documents had scripts and characters related to Fallout 4, not specifically by name, but by descriptions and references that were obviously Fallout-related. The documents reveal a familiar opening: “War. War never changes,” along with a post-apocalyptic MIT and Fallout locations mentioned in other games but never shown before. One mission includes salvaging a fusion core from a museum. Other characters include a DJ and an engineer. Of course, none of these may come to pass, but the information is intriguing.

The Great Reddit Hoax

A huge, elaborate hoax was perpetrated on Reddit when a user showed up and shared a link to TheSurvivor2299, a very elaborate website. The site was modeled after an ARG and said it would trickle hidden messages and plot details via morse code and other clues. It spawned 21 megathreads on Reddit and tons of speculation. Bethesda never “officially” confirmed nor denied the website, although it did say not to make any assumptions, but it was eventually revealed as a hoax with the help of a rickroll.

Where to Keep Watching

Keep an eye on Pete Hines' Twitter page for confirmation. #Fallout4 Share on X

Aside from Google alerts, Pete Hines’ Twitter page is a good place to look for confirmation. He’s been vocal in the past about Fallout 4 rumors and is the VP of Bethesda, plus in charge of PR. So he’d be the guy to watch. Right now he’s just retweeting stuff about sports, and his pinned tweet is about Bethesda’s first E3 press conference.
