Capcom and Steamforged Games are bringing the highly anticipated Resident Evil universe to the board game realm with a new Kickstarter campaign that will begin on October 26, 2021.

The co-op campaign board game will accommodate 1-4 players who can play as Special Tactics and Rescue Service (STARS) members like Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield, according to the campaign’s description.

“Together, you’ll explore the iconic Spencer Mansion, searching for a way to enter the sinister laboratory that lies beneath,” the description explains. “Complete puzzles, uncover clues, encounter enemies and unexpected narrative twists, contend with blocked pathways, and make meaningful choices that evolve your campaign… Can you survive a night in the Spencer Mansion?”

According to the teaser trailer, the game looks to include room pieces for the mansion, door pieces, evil baddy minis, and four character miniatures.

The original Resident Evil video game kicked off the franchise in 1996. It is often credited as defining the survival horror genre while subsequent games and movies have all worked to build a name that is synonymous with the zombie horror name.

Resident Evil has become Capcom’s best-selling game of all time with over 117 million units sold as of this summer. Not only is it the best-selling horror game series ever, but it’s also the highest-grossing live-action film series based on a video game as well.

All of this should come together to make this long-awaited board game a big hit. The fact that crowd-funded board games are all the rage these days doesn’t hurt things, but the combination of that Resident Evil name with a Kickstarted board game can only spell success.

Look for the official Kickstarter campaign for the Resident Evil board game to hit the service next Tuesday, October 26.
