We now know the date and time that Attack on Titan Season 4 Part 2 (aka Season 4 Episode 17) is going to air. Because there was such a long hiatus, some people are referring to this as Attack on Titan Season 5. But technically, this is Part 2 of Season 4. Here are all the details on when it’s releasing.
The New Episode Will Air on Sunday, January 9, 2022

Season 4 Episode 17 (called “Judgement” or “Condemnation”) will premiere on January 9, 2022. So yes, Attack on Titan will continue its Sunday night premieres.
In addition, NHK (the channel in Japan that broadcasts Attack on Titan) announced that Season 4 Episode 17 will premiere at “24:05” on January 9 (i.e. at 12:05 a.m. JST.) This is just a little earlier than Season 4 Part 1 episodes aired. Season 4 Part 1 episodes dropped in Japan at 12:10 a.m. JST (Japan time.) So it looks like the new broadcast time is only going to be five minutes earlier.

Although Hulu, Crunchyroll, and Funimation have yet to announce the times it will release on their platforms, it’s likely to be the same times that Season 4 Part 1 episodes aired. So expect Season 4 Episode 17 to air at 3:45 p.m. Eastern on Sunday, January 9. In other time zones, this would be 2:45 p.m. Central, 1:45 p.m. Mountain, and 12:45 p.m. Pacific. In Honolulu, Hawaii, that’s Sunday at 10:45 a.m. In Anchorage, Alaska, that’s Sunday at 11:45 a.m.
Hajime Isayama, the original author, shared some comments on the official website about Attack on Titan’s return. Here’s the Google-translated version:
I’m really looking forward to the start of the second final season. It’s a really difficult drawing even in the original, and I’m going to put a lot of trouble on MAPPA again for the many scenes that the assistants struggled with. I’m very sorry to say that, but I’m sorry, but I’m looking forward to the difficult scene. I hope that people who see it for the first time in animation will also enjoy it.

NHK Is Also Airing OVA Specials in Japan
NHK is also doing a big build-up to the premiere by airing OVAs on TV, along with omnibus specials that recap what happened. We know these are going to air in Japan, but it’s not clear if they’ll also stream on U.S. services or not. These will air on Sundays on NHK at 24:05, the same time that Attack on Titan’s new episode will ultimately air in January.
Here’s the OVA schedule:
- October 24 at 24:05 JST: Special Omnibus Night One (looking back at the progress so far)
- November 7 at 24:05 JST: Special Omnibus Night Two and “Lost Girls: Wall Sina, Goodbye” (Parts 1 and 2)
- November 14 at 24:05: Special Omnibus Night Three
- November 21 at 24:05: Special Omnibus Night Four
- November 28 at 24:05: The OVAs “No Regrets” Parts 1 and 2 and “Lost Girls: Lost in the Cruel World”
This isn’t all of the OVAs. There’s also a really important OVA called Isle’s Notebook that’s not on the schedule, along with the OVA “Distress.” Also, there were rumors (based on an earlier announcement) that a brand new OVA was going to be released. However, it’s unclear at this time if that’s still the case.
