Fans of the original 1998 TV anime Cowboy Bebop will be excited to hear that Netflix is still on track for that promised fall release of their live-action adaptation of the show as the streaming network announces a November 19 premiere.

To help celebrate this announcement, Netflix has also released a handful of new screenshots taken from the new series.

The Netflix series will star John Cho as Spike Spiegel, Mustafa Shakir as Jet Black, and Daniella Pineda as Faye Valentine, the three bounty hunter “cowboys” who hunt down the solar system’s grittiest criminals.

The 26 episodes of the original series focused heavily on a multitude of genres and themes, including space opera, western, cyberpunk, noir, and many more. The general premise of the show followed the cowboy bounty hunters through space on their ship, named Bebop, after a hyperspace gateway accident left Earth in ruin. It will be interesting to see how closely this live-action adaptation stays with the anime and subsequent manga.

Netflix ordered the series with 10 episodes back in 2018, but pandemic delays have pushed it back to this fall.

Cowboy Bebop is headed up by showrunner André Nemec with original anime director Shinichirō Watanabe acting as consultant as well as original composer Yoko Kanno returning to do the music.

Cowboy Bebop will hit Netflix on November 19, 2021.
