Last Man Down is the latest movie from Saban Films to get a teaser trailer and new poster showing off what we can expect from the pandemic thriller when it releases later this year.
Last Man Down is the story of former special forces soldier John Wood (Daniel Stisen) who escapes to live as a hermit in the Nordic wilderness after society collapses and his wife is murdered. But Wood’s solitude is disturbed years later when a young woman, who is thought to hold the cure for the pandemic in her blood, stumbles onto his property and complicates his world. “You just brought a lot of problems to my cabin,” Wood grunts to the young woman when she explains how she IS the vaccine. The kicker? The young woman is being hunted by the same man who killed Wood’s wife.
So now it’s personal. (cue ’80s rock music)
The trailer shows off what looks like an entertaining flick full of everything you’d expect from an action movie: muscles, one-liners, more muscles, and a gun-loading montage with lots of magazine slapping.
What’s crazy about this movie is it’s almost the exact same plot as John Malkovich’s The Survivalist, which also releases in October. I’m looking forward to watching both to compare notes.
Last Man Down also stars Olga Kent, Daniel Nehme, Stanislav Yanevski, Madeleine Vall, and Natassia Malthe. The Swedish-made film is directed by Fanmsu Njie who is making his feature-length film debut.
Look for Last Man Down to hit streaming platforms on October 19, 2021.
