Last week included both Canada Day and America Day (American Independence Day) so it was rife with celebrations, demonstrations, and lots of stuff blowing up. But through it all, YouTube content creators put out an impressive amount of post-apocalyptic material for this week’s round-up.

In this one, we have everything from a tabletop gaming session to a couple short films to a chainsaw demonstration.

THE RECKONING Post Apocalyptic Short Film Sci fi Short
Oftentimes when watching a low-budget short film, you’ll need to suspend a level of expectation for the quality and just enjoy what’s being portrayed, but this one is seriously impressive. Sure, it’s not quite Hollywood blockbuster level yet, but it’s better than most of the crap you find on Amazon Prime Video.

Post-apocalyptic Chainsaw Demonstration
This working chainsaw prop was created to look like something straight out of a Mad Max film, and I have to say that it’s quite impressive. Plus, this video’s professional production value adds so much to the presentation.

Why Post Apocalyptic Games Make Zero Sense
Have you ever wondered why post-apocalyptic game NPCs are so lazy? This video explores how frustrating it is to be the only one who has any desire to rebuild society in these games.

Fallout: Zero | Episode 1 | Live (Pre-recorded) TTRPG
A group of five players and a GM play through the tabletop RPG Fallout: Zero in this nearly 4-hour session. Not only is the adventure interesting, but the video includes some very helpful overlays and graphics that add to the experience.

“Beneath the Quilted Sky” entry 3 |diary of a post-apocalyptic survivor
This third part of the Beneath the Quilted Sky series continues the diary of an apocalypse survivor and how he copes with the horror of it all. Be sure to go back and listen to the previous entries as well.

Mad Max Redemption Cinematic
This short film was created in Unity with assets from the 2015 Mad Max game. While it doesn’t compare to the cinematics in the game itself, it is incredibly well done for what it is. I would watch an entire movie of this!

Homes of Hope Short Film
Homes of Hope is a short social commentary film that warns of complacency and fantasy in a dystopian London of 2036. Despite being made in 2017, this re-release hits on some very current events.

Top 20 Movies Where the World Actually Ends
Who else is tired of seeing movies where the hero saves the day? I know, right? WatchMojo compiled a great list of 20 movies with a real apocalypse and I have to say that I’m really impressed with their research. Any list that contains 1984’s Threads is a great list in my book.
