What Happened Last Week?
Spoilers from last week are below.
So far, the new season has been very intense. Last week, June and Janine thought they found freedom when escaping Gilead, only to wind up with a scavenger group that is equally harsh in its own way. Janine had to sleep with the scavenger group’s leader in order to “buy” them a spot in the group, despite the leader expressing dislike of the idea of sex slaves. He seems to not realize that coercion with the threat of mostly assured death is basically the same thing. (Or he’s purposefully avoiding that realization so he can continue his abhorrent practices.)
Rita, however, is enjoying a better life in Canada and is standing up against the Waterfords. She won’t be a pawn for either of them, and it’s glorious to watch.
