Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead is shaping up to be one of our most anticipated movies for 2021 and a brand new trailer just cements that fact.
The official trailer, which dropped today, shows much more of the plot that’s only been teased so far. We see more of Dave Bautista’s character before the big casino heist when he was just a cook at a greasy spoon diner. But after a $50M payday promise, he gets the old gang back together to pull off a classic robbery in the quarantined zone of the Las Vegas strip.
There’s only one problem: the gigantic horde of undead waiting outside.
And perhaps the most interesting part of this trailer is the revelation that these zombies are not your run-of-the-mill shambling walkers from The Walking Dead; these are quick, organized creatures that are far more intelligent than we’ve seen before. This takes this film from mindless action flick to something that may surprise us.
In addition to Bautista, the Army of the Dead cast is rounded out with stars like Ana de la Reguera (Nacho Libre, Narcos), Hiroyuki Sanada (LOST, Avengers: Endgame), and someone we’re so glad to see back on the screen: Garret Dillahunt from Fear the Walking Dead.
Army of the Dead will release on both Netflix and in theaters on May 21 of this year.
