Attack on Titan Season 4 Episode 7 just aired, but how many episodes are going to be in Season 4 total? Just how many episodes are left? Will Mappa Studio finish the manga? These are all the questions on the top of fans’ minds. Here’s what we know so far.

16 Episodes Were Ordered, But It’s Not Clear If That’s Just for the First Half of the Season
We know for certain that 16 episodes were ordered, which leaves us with nine episodes left in Season 4. And we know that Season 4 is the final season. What’s not clear is if the 16-episode arc simply accounts for the first half of Season 4 or not.
The information about the 16-episode Season came from a post about the Season 4 Blu-ray release, which said the final season will consist of 16 episodes on two discs, CBR reported. Season 2 was just 12 episodes, while Season 1 was 26.

However, this doesn’t seem like firm confirmation that there won’t be more episodes after that. Most fans who have also read the manga think there’s just no way that they can adapt the entire rest of the anime in nine more episodes. Season 3 was divided into two parts, so let’s hope this happens again and the “16 episode” mention is just for the first half.
Here’s one thread from a fan concerned that there is no way the rest of the manga could fit into a total of 16 episodes.
Anyone else worried Season 4 is too short to cover everything? from attackontitan
One person responded: “No one knows for sure but rumors say that the 16 episodes could just be the part 1 like in season 3 and we’ll have a break of a half a year or however long then the rest of the season.”
The Producers Said They Would Adapt the Manga All the Way to Its End
The manga isn’t even finished yet itself, but is concluding in April. The manga is concluding on April 9 in the May issue of Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shonen Magazine, with the final volume shipping on June 9, Anime News Network reported. Many anime fans have pointed out that this means the anime would end before the manga, which makes no sense. Surely the anime will have a second half after Episode 16.
On Reddit, one person wrote that at the current pace, Episode 16 would only get us to Chapter 120-122 of the manga, which would definitely not be the end. People who have read the manga say they’ll need at least another 16 episodes for a satisfying completion.
The good news is that the producers of the Attack on Titan anime have said that they plan to adapt the manga all the way to the end, CBR reported, and won’t conclude just halfway through. So that’s a good sign that points to the possibility of either a Part 2 of Season 4 with more episodes or maybe a movie. With so many chapters left in the manga, it’s just not clear how the anime itself could wrap all that up in just 16 episodes — only nine episodes from now. But with the producers’ promise in hand, it seems that they will have to either add more episodes later in the season or introduce a movie. Here’s hoping we go the “additional episodes” route. We’ll keep you posted.
